The Billionaire And His Son Want Me Back (Paisley)

Chapter 215

Paisley had just entered the emergency center when she saw Jonathan, who had also hurried over.

Paisley, what are you doing here?" Jonathan asked, startled to see her. Could it be that she was here to see her son?

He had been in a meeting downtown when the hospital called, and he rushed back immediately.

Reginald had called him on his way back, asking for help in arranging a VIP room for Grayson. Jonathan had agreed, but the situation at the hospital was far worse than he'd anticipated.

With a surge in patient numbers recently, the regular rooms were already full. Today, the influx of critically ill patients had been so overwhelming that even emergency protocols couldn't keep up, leaving no choice but to use VIP rooms. As a result, Jonathan had been unable to arrange a room for Grayson, who was considered a less critical case compared to others.

Jonathan, my child is in there." Paisley said urgently, her pace unrelenting.

Seeing her anxious expression. Jonathan quickly tried to comfort her. "Don't worry, I've checked. Sonny is fine for

now."

"Sonny" Paisley hesitated. "Sonny is here too?"

Jonathan realized then that the child Paisley referred to wasn't Grayson, but her daughter. 'What a strange coincidence, he thought.

As they spoke, Jonathan noticed the tall man walking calmly beside Paisley.

When Max caught Jonathan's gaze, he nodded politely, exuding an air of calm and reassurance even under such tense circumstances. Before Jonathan could ask Paisley about the man's identity, they arrived at the chaotic emergency treatmentnoveldrama

"Mommy!" From a distance, Grayson saw Paisley. His tear-

streaked face lit up as he waved at her enthusiastically.

"Sonny?" Paisley spotted Grayson and the injuries covering his body.

Could it be that the two children had been together when the incident happened? Paisley had no prior knowledge of this-

Maria hadn't mentioned it during their calls or messages.

Grayson grabbed Paisley's hand tightly. "Mommy, you're here to see me, right? Mommy, I hurt so much. I feel like I'm going to die!"

Seeing Grayson in such a state, Paisley was heartbroken. She instinctively turned his wrist to feel his pulse while scanning the room for Maria and Serena. It didn't take long for her to spot Maria holding Serena nearby.

Maria noticed Paisley as well, waving at her and pointing to Serena, who was asleep in her arms. Serena's face was pale, but she seemed to be sleeping soundly and wasn't as seriously injured as Grayson. This eased Paisley's mind a little. Even though Maria had assured her over the phone that everything was fine, Paisley couldn't rest until she saw it for herself.

Meanwhile, the Vanderbilt family members fell silent upon seeing Paisley checking Grayson's pulse. Even Lauren, who had been crying nonstop, held back her tears and stared intently at Paisley,

Though Lauren often felt discontent toward Paisley, she couldn't bring herself to say anything in moments like this. Kayla, hiding behind Lauren, looked at Paisley with admiration shining in her eyes.

In Kayla's view, Paisley seemed to radiate light. Her idol truly lived up to expectations-

even the way she stood there taking a pulse was captivating.

Reginald stayed silent, his gaze on Paisley growing deeper. What an ideal candidate for a daughter-in-

law. A renowned artist. An inheritor of Ancient Medical Arts. The student of the legendary healer, Charles the National Doctor. And as Sonny had mentioned, she was fluent in multiple languages. Such an exceptional woman was more than qualified to take on the role of the Vanderbilt

family's matriarch. Yet-

Reginald's gaze shifted to Serena. His eyes darkened. That child wasn't part of the Vanderbilt family. If only that child didn't exist, how perfect everything would be.

He withdrew his gaze, only then noticing that Paisley hadn't come alone. Aside from Jonathan, there

was another man accompanying her.

When Reginald's eyes landed on the tall figure, he froze. Others might not recognize Max, but Reginald did.

Max was the adopted son of Tyson, the head of the influential Godard family in Montera. Reginald had encountered both Tyson and Max at a high-

profile military-political dinner in Montera.

Tyson was known for his decisive and domineering personality, and his adopted son was no less formidable. But why was Max here with Paisley?

Reginald's mind raced, and soon, he remembered Maria's earlier phone call with Paisley. A man's voice had been in the background. Maria had called him Max. Reginald's eyes narrowed sharply. So, was Max Serena's father? Dominick's gaze darkened as he stared at Paisley and Max together. No matter how much he tried to deny or avoid it, the sight of them arriving at the hospital together shattered him.

It felt as though he had plunged into an abyss of ice-cold, suffocating, oppressive, and agonizing

emotions twisting together, making it hard to breathe.

His eyes locked onto Max. Just as he was staring at Max, Max turned and met his

gaze. Two sets of eyes clashed in the air. One was icy and filled with hostility. The other was calm and provocatively confident.

Leo felt the tension rise and instinctively took a step back. Behind him, Julian did the same, stepping back as well. Leo glanced at Julian and suddenly felt the air crackling with rivalry.

With a huff, he rolled

his eyes at Julian and raised his brows in a mocking challenge. Julian responded with a cold smirk, his eyes glinting with disdain.

Meanwhile, Paisley remained unaware of the silent exchanges around her. After checking Grayson's pulse, she pressed on a few spots on his body, carefully observing his reactions and asking if he felt any pain. Each time, Grayson shook his head, denying any discomfort Satisfied, Paisley withdrew her hands and turned to Dominick. "He's fine. There's no need to worry. But just to be safe, 1 recommend doing a full-

body checkup,

Hearing her words, Lauren finally let out a sigh of relief, her worries casing.

"Alright," Dominick said, his voice low and slightly hoarse as he looked at Paisley. His eyes were faintly red.

There was so much he wanted to say. He wanted to know what Paisley's relationship with Max was. Was Max truly Serena's father? Were they living together? Was there really no chance left for him? now,"

But before Dominick could speak, Paisley's indifferent voice interrupted his thoughts. "If there's nothing else, I'll be going

There were already plenty

of people taking care of Grayson. With the Vanderbilt family's resources, he was surrounded by love and care, and his safety was assured.

Besides, his father was there with him. But over at her home, Serena had only Maria. Serena needed her mother's presence. Without waiting for anyone to respond. Paisley turned and walked
