CHAPTER TWELVE
“I still can’t believe that you kept this from us!” Shain mouthed, fuming. “I mean, my main bitch has some dry face ass bitch trying to kill her because she wants some of Cayne’s D? Hell no! I don’t think so. I’ll cut that bitch. I’ll fuckin…”
“Yes! That fucking whore bones needs to be break. How dare her try to kill you? Na ah! I’ll kill that motherfucker first.” Tiff hissed.
As they prattled on in gruesome detail how they planned to kill Anica, Mira leaned over and whispered. “Okay, so maybe you were right when you said that we shouldn’t tell Shain and Tiff about it.”
I glared at her. “You think?”
“Can the two of you please calm down? People are staring at us, you know,” Layla said soothingly, glancing around Starbucks and smiling apologetically at all the eyes in us.
Tiff grumbled some explicit words under her breath, but seemed to have settled down, the same goes to Shain who still wearing her dead eye look bitch face on me.
Mira looked at me and ask the big question. “So did you tell Cayne already?”
I nodded slowly and she let out a relief sigh.
“Thank God. I though I was gonna have to corner him at his office and tell him. Not that I would have a problem with that.” Mira looked like he was salivating as she pictured Cayne.
I rolled my eyes and continued. “He told me not to worry about anything else. He said that he will handle it. ”
“Did he tell you how?” Layla asked, cocking her head to the side.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
I shook my head. I suddenly remembered how Cayne’s face had looked last night. It was so dark and intense. Chills roll over my body as I try to recall the moment.
“I’m not worried though,” I told them. “I have a feeling that Cayne’s in the process of handling it right now.”

“I’d never thought that I’d hear that name again,” Julio, Cayne’s father said quietly, looking at Cayne sadly. Cayne just had explain the situation to his father who was shock to put it mildly.
“And are you sure it was really Lincoln? I mean it couldn’t be him. It has to be someone else.” Julio pressed.
Cayne nodded. When Raszhiel had described the tattoo on his hand he knew immediately who they were up against. He’d never forget Lincoln Montefalco.
He clenched his hand into a fist and said, “Dad, if Anica has anything to do with this-”
“Then necessary actions will be taken. But I hope it’s really not Anica. I couldn’t imagine her doing that kind of thing,” Julio interrupted his son, his mind already miles away. “We need to prove first that Anica is the one responsible for this.”
Cayne nodded, his eyebrows furrowing.
“Yes, I know. But that could take a while. She might put limit with her actions for us to not be able to notice it. Until then, I think we should try finding Lincoln.”
His father nodded in agreement. “Until then, Anica should still continue being your secretary. But you have to keep an eye on her.”
Cayne nodded again. He would find Lincoln and put him behind the bars with Anica if she is truly involved in this. I will out them to the place where they belong. Although they hadn’t known each other for long, Cayne had a soft heart for Raszhiel. Messing with her is like messing with him. And no one messes with Cayne Shelton and got away. No one.
He knows it’s kinda wrong but he feels something inside of him that makes him want to protect Raszhiel. Maybe because he’s in love with her? He shooked his head. He shouldn’t be. It’s wrong. He can’t fall I love with her. That’s completely insane.

Raszhiel POV
I was walking home later that night alone after work. My boss and my co-workers had planned to make a welcome party for me for my second day because they said that it’s rude for them not to welcome me. They were all nice and friendly.
Mira had literally begged to drive me home, but I declined. I told her the same thing that I told Cayne- that I shouldn’t and wouldn’t live in fear.
I was only about two minutes away from Shelton’s residence when someone appeared in front of me. He literally seemed to appeared out of thin air. One moment it was just me, all by myself, walking alone, and seconds later he was there. He was leaning against the streetlight pole, dressed head to toe in black.
I stopped and blinked. He wore the same expression he had worn when we first met yesterday night- sadness.
“You’re the guy from last night.”
Duh! My subconscious taunted me. Way to state the obvious, Raszhiel.
He sighed and walked inched closer. His movements caught my attention and I inched back in response.
“I really don’t want to do this,” His voice was sorrowful, pleading, “but I have to….”
I shook my head before he’d finished.
“You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do,” I said, my voice as was pleading as what his had been. I was pleading for my life.
“You don’t have to to this.” His behavior was quiet erratic.
He laughed without humor and reach into his coat pocket, pulling out a gun. He pointed it right straight of me, the wistful expression never leaving his eyes.
“You’re so young,” he whispered, swallowing. “When you were eighteen, fresh out of high school, you just so happens to be be friends with Antoennete Lolita’s daughter, Layla, who was more than willing to adopt you as her daughter. You were living your life peacefully, but then you met Cayne Shelton. One of the wealthiest man in the world.” He laughed bitterly.
“If it wasn’t because of him, I wouldn’t have to do this, and I shouldn’t have met you. You’ve had a lot of luck. She was lucky too. Luck and beauty were in her side- just like you.”
He was rambling, sounding more and more insane as he spoke. A loud click caught my attention and I returned my focus on his steady hand and the gun pointing at me.
I was just standing with my mind all blank. Looking at him, pleading, teary eyes and my body was shaking because of so much fear and nervousness.
“I don’t want to, but I have to.”
I was frozen in fear. My limbs became weak, I tried not show any weakness but failed, but tried again. And without even realizing what I was doing, I did something that surprised the hell out of me. I surged forward and close the gap between us.
He gave a surprised grunt as I knocked him down. I rolled off of him and ran faster. I ran as if there was no tomorrow for me. Yes, there will definitely no tomorrow for me if he catch me up. Suddenly, I was tackled from the side, my attacker and I rolled into bushes.
I kicked and scrambled him, clawing at his eyes and his cheeks as he held me down.
He cursed and said, “Raszhiel, fuck, calm down, it’s me.”
I stopped struggling and focused on the person hovering me. His blonde hair was luminous, even in the dark. His blue eyes shone down on mine, only this time they were not mischievous- they were deadly.
“Cayne,” I whispered in relief. I never thought I’d be so glad to see him in my life.
He rose, pulling me up with him. He pulled me along, looking in the direction where that man had been. But the street were empty except for the two of us, standing side by side. It was as if my almost assassin had never been there at all.

3rd Person POV
“What’s taking you so long?” Anica snapped at him through the other side of his phone. He could not see her, yet he could imagine how her face looked at the moment-stiff and contorted in anger.
“Killing the girl will be harder than it seems,” Lincoln said calmly. Anica was on a speaker phone and Lincoln was cleaning his gun.
She sighed in frustration. “Can you pleased speed this up. I want her dead, ASAP!”
Lincoln pursed his lips. He knew what he had to do but whenever he imagined her face again….
“Okay,” he agreed half-heartedly. “You’re right. I’ll end her life soon enough.”
