"Mom, what are you doing here?"

"If you want someone to serve you, why not have another child? When you do, I'll be sure to take good care of you!"

Scarlett's face turned red with anger, her voice sharp. "How dare you speak to me like that! Do you believe I won't have my son fire you immediately?"

Scarlett's loud voice woke Harry, who began to cry.

Emily was too weak to get up and argue with Scarlett. Heartbroken, she tried to soothe Harry, tears welling up in her eyes. "Harry, it's okay, it's okay! Don't cry, don't cry."

Harry's cries only fueled Scarlett's rage. Already resentful of the child, she was now furious, pointing at Jenny and shouting. "Get out!"

Jenny stood her ground, her voice cold. "Unless Mr. Smith orders it himself, I won't leave."
