The ceo’s secretary

Chapter 33

On Saturday morning, I woke up due to some noises coming from the sitting room. Reluctantly, I got out of bed, put on my clothes, and went out to check what was going on. I stopped at the entrance of the sitting room to eavesdrop on their conversation to see if I should go in or not. I decided not to when I realized who they were.

“So, you’re going for the seminar?” Jason’s dad asked.

“Yeah, I will be going,” Jason replied.

“And I’m really happy that you’re back to yourself,” his mom added.

“Yeah, I’m back to myself, because of her.”

“Who?” his father asked curiously.

“Come out, I know you’re there.”

I squeezed up my face, wondering if I should answer him or ignore him, when he called my name again.

“Lexi.”

“Yes,” I answered, stepping out of my hiding place.

“Come here,” Jason said. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org: ©.

I greeted them as I walked past to where Jason was sitting, avoiding their gazes by looking nowhere in particular.

“Thanks to not giving up, Dad, I found her. I know you thought I wouldn’t.”

Jason’s parents exchanged glances, a mixture of shock and discomfort on their faces.

“Gold dig…” his father began through gritted teeth.

“Dad, enough of that,” Jason cut him off. “You and I both know she isn’t one, so why are you trying to paint her black when she’s white?”

Jason stood up and walked into our bedroom, leaving me alone with his extremely furious father and his mother, who was just watching the situation unfold.

When Jason came back, he went straight to where his dad was sitting and handed him something.

“Take these,” he said with sarcasm. “You can cash them out on your way home.”

“Jason!” his dad growled, staring daggers at me. “I told you not to come back here.”

“She didn’t,” Jason replied firmly. “I found her. And we don’t need your money.”

“Jason,” his mom warned gently, her eyes filled with concern.

Jason turned to his mother, his voice softening. “Mom, I love her. She is my everything , and I need you to respect her.

“This is the only person that makes me happy, and you don’t want me to be with her. If you don’t want her, you don’t want me. It’s that simple,” Jason declared.

His dad stood up angrily and began making his way to the entrance, followed by his mom.

“And news flash…” Jason called after them.

They stopped in their tracks, turning to face him.

“We’re expecting a baby. We’ll let you know when he’s here.”

His dad stormed out after hearing this, while his mom instantly looked at my stomach for confirmation before following her husband.

“That was too hard,” I said to Jason once they were gone.

“What you and my baby went through was harder,” he replied.

“But…”

“Whose side are you on?” he cut me off.

“Yours,” I replied.

“Why?”

“Because I love you.”

“I love you too.”

We later went shopping that day, and I got myself some new stuff.

I was sitting on my leather seat in my office with my eyes closed on Monday morning when someone cleared their throat. I opened my eyes instantly to see Jada, Jason’s PA, smiling at me.

“Good morning,” I said.

“Welcome back,” she replied.

“Thank you.”

She drew out the chair in front of me, sat down, and started staring at me until it became uncomfortable.

“What’s it?” I asked.

“Nothing,” she smiled. “I’m just happy you’re back.”

“Thank you.”

“And mind you, the next time you hurt Jason the way you did again, I’m gonna hunt you down myself and I’m gonna hurt you back,” she threatened. “I’ve worked here all my life, thinking he would look at me once, but he never did. And you, you don’t even care. You just act the way you want. He passed through hell when you left. And seeing him in that pain was almost unbearable for me. Don’t you ever leave him again because he loves you, he loves you so much.”

She finished, got out of her seat, and left.

Tanner came to pick me up after work because Jason had some things he needed to attend to before coming home. I used the extra hours to continue my Adam Lee movie since I’d missed so many episodes.

I paused my movie when the doorbell rang, got up, and opened the door, expecting Jason but instead found Dixie standing there.

“What are you doing here?” she asked angrily.

“I should be asking you that question.”

“Bitch!” she swore and hit me across the face.

The slap came as a surprise, and before I could raise my hand to hit her back, she struck me again and again until I fell.

“You bitch!” she swore. “How dare you come back? Who do you think you are?”

I could hardly say a word because the slaps were coming at me at a rapid pace. Just when I thought there was no way of escaping her wrath, I heard Jason’s voice.

He rushed to where we were and roughly pushed Dixie away from me.

“How dare you touch her?” Jason growled at her while helping me up.

“She started it,” Dixie lied.

“That’s… a lie,” I stammered.

“It’s obvious you started this, and I’m going to have you arrested for breaking into my house,” Jason snapped.

“I didn’t break into your house. Your gatekeeper gave me permission because he knows me. And stop playing holy because she is here,” Dixie retorted.

“What’s she saying?” I asked, my voice shaky and confused.

“Don’t listen to her. She’s trying to break us apart,” Jason whispered to me, his voice soothing but firm. Then he turned back to Dixie. “It’s better you leave before I call the police on you.”

Dixie glared at us both, her eyes filled with fury. “You think you can just get rid of me? You think she’ll make you happy? She’ll ruin you, Jason. Just wait and see.”

“I said leave, Dixie. Now,” Jason commanded.

“The last time I was here, he was telling me he missed me and he fucked me in this same sitting room,” Dixie sneered, her eyes locked on mine with disdain.

“That’s because you’re his fuck buddy. You mean nothing to him but someone he loves fucking,” I shot back, trying to maintain my composure despite the anger rising within me.

“Get the fuck out before I call the police on you,” Jason’s voice cut through the tension as he approached Dixie, his tone cold and authoritative. He swiftly moved to where she stood and forcibly escorted her out of the building.

“Jason is mine… and I’m gonna take him back,” Dixie shouted defiantly as Jason closed the door behind her, her voice fading into the distance.

“Are you okay?” Jason asked, his concern evident as he returned to the room.

“Yeah, I am,” I replied, trying to steady my breathing.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry for everything,” Jason apologized, his gaze filled with regret.

“It’s okay, it’s not your fault,” I assured him, reaching out to touch his arm gently.

“It is. I should have told Kearney not to allow her in,” Jason said, frustration evident in his voice.

“Kearney, that’s the name of our gatekeeper?” I asked, seeking clarification.

“Yeah, he knows her. I should have been more cautious,” Jason sighed, running a hand through his hair.

“It’s okay. She’s gone now,” I reassured him, offering a small smile.

Jason nodded, visibly relieved. “I’ll make sure security is tightened. This won’t happen again.”

I nodded in agreement, grateful for his protective instincts. Despite the unsettling encounter with Dixie, I felt reassured by Jason’s presence and determination to keep me safe.

Thirty minutes later.

“JASON!” I screamed in panic, my voice echoing through the house. “JASON! JASON!”

Jason rushed into the sitting room, his face filled with concern. “What is it?” he asked urgently.

“BLOOD,” I managed to say, my voice trembling.

“What do you mean?” Jason questioned, moving closer to me.

I opened my legs, and as he saw the blood, his face went pale. He stumbled back and collapsed, shaking visibly with shock and fear.

“I… I need to call an ambulance,” Jason muttered, his voice barely audible as he fumbled for his phone.

I sat there, terrified and unsure of what was happening. Tears streamed down my face as I realized something was terribly wrong. The pain and the sight of blood left me feeling helpless and scared.
