Chapter 09
KAEL.
After the rejection, I didn't see Adessa the whole day. I heard she was in her office. I didn't even bother to check what she was doing there. I had no idea what to do with her.
I knew she couldn't stay here, especially since Desiree was planning to move in, but I was also concerned for her safety. Everyone knew she was my Luna and could be the target of any danger or maltreatment. I didn't want her hurt.
My people might love me, but I was sure I didn't have a good reputation with other packs. I lived in the solitude of my own territory. We thrived well both in industrial and agricultural businesses, so I had no need for other packs. I ruled as I pleased, and if I failed, I learned from it and started all over again.
Since I was indifferent to other packs, I was sure if they found out about her, they might take advantage. Of what? I could only imagine what terrible things they could come up with.
But then, I was sure Adessa was aware of this. So, surely she would not leave this territory. My pack is big. She could be anywhere, and I would never bump into her.
I tried to take her off my mind for the rest of the day, but I wasn't successful. I could still remember the pain in her eyes, but I also saw the disgust in them whenever she looked at Desiree.
I didn't want her to hate Desiree, as she was also a victim of our marriage, but at the same time, I didn't like the pain in her eyes. I honestly had no idea what I should feel at the moment.
Still confused with my conflicted emotions, I asked Dexter to take me out, and we ended up in one of the bars a few kilometers away from home. Many were surprised to see me out, and most of the elderly in the pub had advised me not to drink as I might still be vulnerable, but I was not one to be told.
I think I drank a little too much.
The last thing I remembered was Desiree coming to the pub and summoning me home. I told her I would go home soon, so she left right away, but I ended up staying for another hour.
I wondered if Adessa had come for me every time I went out drinking.
Adessa.
Adessa.
Adessa.
I couldn't stop thinking about her, and for some reason, I ended up in bed with her. I couldn't deny that I had never felt as high and aroused as I felt, only for me to feel guilty when Desiree showed up and saw us. Desiree's sobs echoed around the room as she ran away. I kept calling her name until I was startled by a door closing, and I woke up.
It was just a dream.
I tried to see if anyone was beside me, internally hoping Adessa was there, but I was alone. So I went back to sleep, hoping I could continue where I left off with my wet dreams - where my ex-wife was riding me like I was a wild horse, moaning sexily as I satisfied her. But I was not lucky this time. No more dreams came.
My head was pounding by the time I woke up again. The sun was already high, and I realized I was in one of the guest rooms.
Naked.
I lay flat, arms wide open, as I looked around, trying to remember how I ended up here. But my mind gave me nothing. Until the door swung open. Desiree stood there, still in her nightrobe. Her chest was heaving as if she were upset. "What's going on?" I asked.
"What do you mean, what's going on?" Her tone was sharp.Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
"Why am I here and not in my room? Did we sleep here?" I asked.
Her expression softened before she asked again. "Can't you remember anything that happened last night?"
"I was with Dexter at the pub, and I don't even know how I got here. Did we have sex here?"
Her mouth opened before she looked back at the corridor and closed the door. Her face lit up as she nodded her head and approached me, sitting at the end of the bed. "You were so drunk that I couldn't carry you, and I ended up dragging you here," she said. "Oh..." I mumbled and palmed my forehead before closing my eyes. I moved my feet until I touched something silky inside the blanket.
I dragged it up with my toes and found a gold-colored robe. "Is this your..."
I was not able to finish my words when Desiree grabbed the robe from me and crumpled it into a ball in her hand. "That's mine. I was looking for it when I woke up but couldn't find it, so I went upstairs and took a new one."
She then giggled. "You couldn't wait to tear it off my body last night."
"I'm sure I couldn't." I chuckled at my reply. I closed my eyes again before placing my arm across my forehead. "I have a bad headache, Dey. Can you get me some aspirin?"
"Sure..." She replied in a high-pitched tone before I felt the mattress move as she stood up. I then felt her presence beside me. She leaned forward and pressed her lips against mine. "Do you want me to bring you some breakfast here, too?"
I opened my eyes and saw her staring at me. My hand reached for her arm and brushed it gently as I shook my head. "No. I want to eat in the dining room."
I wanted to see Adessa so we could discuss finding her a place to stay.
"Okay. I'll bring you some aspirin and some clothes you can change into." She said before she began picking up clothes from the floor. She even checked under the bed and then lifted the blanket and pillows as well. "What are you doing?" I chuckled.
"Just checking where our clothes were from last night."
"Since when did you care that you leave your clothes in places where we have sex?" I teased her.
"I'm keeping things tidy." She rolled her eyes at me, clutching my clothes and her nightrobe. "Many things have changed in the last two years, Kael. I'm done with all the partying and ready to be a housewife."
I didn't reply to anything. I was just looking at her. I smiled and nodded my head. She turned around and walked to the door.
I felt guilty as I watched her leave the room. I had sex with her last night, but I was dreaming about Adessa.
