Chapter 15
Chapter 15
Ever since she returned to the Masons, the old man no longer restricted Meredith's activities
Meredith knew in her heart that no matter where she went, the Xaviers could find her back, not to
mention that she now understood that there was no place for her in this world other than the Xaviers.
This is the capability of the head of the family. He clearly was no longer restricting Meredith, but he still
let her feel that there was an invisible iron chain tied to her and she could not escape forever.
Anyway, it was good for Meredith to be able to enter and leave freely. After getting this permission, she
bought herself a cheap phone and got a SIM card. She hesitated for a while before editing a text
message and sending it to a number with which she was familiar enough that she could recite.
In less than a minute, there was a phone call, "Damn, Meredith, you are so bad. I actually had to call
the prison to find you had been released early. Where have you been for more than a month and you
only remembered to contact me now? Do you know I'm going crazy looking for you?"
Julius's voice came from the other end, loud and noisy, but Meredith's heart warmed up.
Back then, when Meredith took the blame for Ava, no one believed her and only Julius stood by her
side. Later, when Meredith was almost beaten to death by in prison, it was also he who found a
solution, by arguing with his family and asking them to save her life. In exchange, he offered to study
abroad and then come back to take charge of the family business.
If it weren't for him, there wouldn't have been Meredith.
Meredith smiled. "It's not my fault. I didn't expect that I would be released so soon. I called your
domestic number, but no one answered. And I don't know your overseas number."
"Come on out. I got the good news and found a reason to go back home. Let's have dinner together!"
As soon as she arrived, Meredith saw Julius was already waiting there. When he saw her, he came
over with a close bear hug. "You've suffered."
Meredith shook his head. "It's over."
Julius looked at Meredith's eyes, which contained sorrow and pain. She must have suffered a lot in
there since she became haggard and mature.
"Let's not talk about this. Let's eat." Meredith didn't want this reunion to become sorrowful, so she broke
the silence.
The two of them sat down, eating, and talking about their recent situations.
"You married..." Julius almost ate the plate. He knew Derek but the man was too mysterious and
dangerous.
He was like a tiger, and his usual prey would only be swallowed with blood and flesh by him.
"Mer, get a divorce. You can't mess with that person. I'll arrange for you to go abroad. You can start
over!"
"No, I could only get out of prison thanks to the Xaviers. If I run away, do you think they'll let me go?"
Julius's eyes darkened. He knew the power of the Xaviers, and the Floreses could not compete with
that.
"I'm sorry, Mer. It was my fault that..."
"That's not the case. Without you, I'm not sure if I can still be alive now." Meredith took Julius's hand. Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. The Xaviers doesn't seem to want my life. That's enough."
"Don't worry, I still have to take revenge on the Masons. I will take care of my life. If I die, there will be
nothing left." Meredith comforted him when she saw his frown.
Meredith pretended to smile lightly, but suddenly felt a sharp sight staring at her from behind, as if it
would penetrate her, making her spine feel cold.
She turned around to check but did not see who was staring at her with that horrible look.
After looking around a few times, the uneasiness in her heart grew stronger and stronger. As soon as
she turned around, her new phone rang. The number was unfamiliar.
Meredith picked it up and a cold voice immediately came from the other end, "Meredith, is the steak
that toy boy cut for you tasty?"
Meredith was stunned and looked up at Julius, who was putting the steak he had cut on his plate in
front of Meredith!
She stood up abruptly, so frightened that even the stool fell to the ground, and her eyes widened as
she looked around, "You're spying on me!"
The feeling of being spied on made Meredith broke out in a cold sweat. He was hiding in the dark while
she was an easy target. She had no idea when he would hide around her and shock her greatly all out
of a sudden.
He even got to know her phone number! Then he should also be clear about where she went, what she
said or did!
As Meredith was still in a panic, then man's cold and gloomy voice came again, "How dare you sneak
out and meet this toy boy in secret without me knowing? Meredith, my patience has really been
exhausted by you. See you tonight!"
