Chapter 11
Once school was over I didn't have a whole lot of time until training was due to start. Just enough time for me to go home, make a quick snack then change into my work out clothes. Black leggings, pink sports bra and black strappy t-shirt. It wasn't exactly the height of fashion but it hugged my curves in all the right places, even I had to admit that I looked hot. I guess it wouldn't be too bad to meet my mate wearing something like this. I pulled on my trainers and ran out of the house before I could overthink things and get myself worked up.
I thought that I was arriving to the training session early but it looked as though my training group were an eager bunch. I was one of the last ones to arrive. Most of them had already arranged themselves into pairs and were practising sparring with each other.
"I was worried that you weren't going to show up." Felix said.
He was smirking at me, this jerk actually believes that he is going to beat me. I would enjoy kicking his ass and wiping that smirk off his face tonight. "You wish." I said.
I felt a smile creeping over my face, I was looking forward to getting some payback for the months of misery he and his friends had given me at school. He might be able to bully me at school where I am vastly outnumbered but training was my domain. Here I could show him what I was made of.
The door slammed closed and everyone's eyes shot in the direction of the sound. I had never seen our alpha, Elijah in person before but I recognised him instantly. He looked a lot like his brother but somehow everything just hung together much better.
He was about five inches taller than me which would mean he was around 6ft4. He had dark eyes and his dark hair fell in loose waves till just below his shoulders. He was wearing a tight black t-shirt which showed off his muscles and the intricate tattoos on his arms to perfection. He was the most handsome man I had ever seen and I wanted to taste every inch of him.
I felt drawn to him strongly from the moment he walked into the room but it wasn't until his scent hit me that I realised he was my mate. There was a slight change in his gait as he glanced in my direction but it was so slight that I almost missed it. He didn't stop or change direction, he just kept walking till he reached his destination at the front of the room.
'Go to him.' Onyx said. She was so enchanted by him that her voice almost sounded like a purr. "What are you waiting for, get started." He said in a deep voice that sent a shiver down my spine. 'Imagine him whispering in your ear as he claims you.' Onyx said, making me blush slightly.
I turned to face Felix and prepared myself mentally for his first attack. I watched as he got into position. I could see his brother Elijah in the corner of my eye. He wasn't even looking at me, why wasn't he looking at me?
He paced across the front of the room stopping close to some other woman who was fighting against a guy twice her size. I felt an involuntary surge of jealousy. Why was he looking at her? Was there something going on between them? Is that why he doesn't want me?
I felt Felix hit me hard across the face bringing my attention back towards him. I needed to focus, I couldn't give Felix the satisfaction of beating me. It wasn't as though we could be together anyway so what did it matter if he didn't want me? Onyx whimpered.
The thought of Elijah rejecting me felt like a dagger piercing my heart but I couldn't think about it now. I took a deep breath and focused all of my attention and rage on Felix.
He tried to strike me again but I knew exactly when and where he was going to strike before he moved. It is almost as though I could sense his intention to hit me so I was able to dodge his attack with ease. I smirked, this was almost too easy. I spent the rest of the training session experimenting with my new ability. I alternated between using them to avoid Felix's attacks and getting in some attacks of my own. Felix was getting more and more frustrated as time went by. He was trying his best to attack me, resorting to dirty tactics to get to me but with my advantage there was nothing he could do.
"That's enough for today. See you all again next week." Elijah said.
I turned to Felix.
"Better luck next week." I teased.
I could see the anger in his eyes but for once he seemed lost for words. He growled slightly and stormed out of the room like a stroppy teenager. I laughed.
"I have never seen my brother get beaten quite so thoroughly before." Elijah said as he walked over to me.
I glanced around the room. We were the only ones left. I was alone in the room with my mate. I guess this is how I get rejected. I straightened up my posture.
"I am sorry alpha." I said. It was best to keep this formal and polite. I don't want him to see how much it hurts me when he tells me I am not worthy of being his. "There is nothing to be sorry for, he needed someone to beat him. He is far too cocky." He said.

I laughed. I hoped that he couldn't tell how nervous I was around him. Who was I kidding? With the way my heart was pounding he must know exactly what he is doing to me. I bet he is enjoying this. "You have probably already worked out that we are mates." He said.
My throat suddenly felt so dry that I was sure if I tried to talk then no words would come out. I nodded my head instead.
"She is wonderful and beautiful but she is a rogue." He said, only he didn't actually say it. I was able to hear what he was thinking and what he was thinking about me was not nice.
"I have been waiting for my mate for a long time, I am so happy to finally meet you." He said.
His tone was a lot softer than his internal voice. If I couldn't hear what he was thinking I might have been fooled into thinking he actually wanted me.
"My mom would love her but my dad wants me to have a strong luna. He would not be happy with me being mated to a rogue." He thought.
I saw red. After everything I had been through in my life I couldn't stand the thought of being seen as weak or a victim. I was a fighter and I was strong. How dare he call me weak without knowing a single thing about me.
"I am not a rogue." I said.
"What?" He said.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
He looked shocked and confused. Of course he did, I was responding to things that he hadn't said out loud but I was too annoyed to care about that right now.
"I said I am not a rogue. Just because my parents died doesn't mean that I am a rogue and even if I was that doesn't mean that I am weak." I said.
"I didn't....." He started to say something but I wasn't finished. I was getting angrier by the movement.
"If you don't want me, have the guts to be honest with me. Tell me you don't think I am good enough without making up lies about something which you know nothing about." I said. My voice was cracking with a mixture of anger and pain. "I think you are mistaken. You are everything I want and more." He said.
He was looking into my eyes, pleading for me to listen to him but I was on a roll. I don't think there was a single force on the planet that could stop me right now.
"No you are the one who is mistaken. Did you think that I would just stand here while you insulted me?" I asked.
"I would never say...." He started to answer.
"I bet you thought that I would cry and beg you not to reject me, didn't you?" I shouted.
"I would never reject....." He said.
I wasn't even listening to him anymore. I had heard stories growing up of arrogant men who seem to take pleasure in making their mates suffer. I wasn't going to let that happen to me.
"I will never beg you so if you are going to reject me you may as well get it over with. All I would be losing is a nice smell, a pretty face and....." I started.
Oh my god. A nice smell.
"That is it, that's the answer." I said.
I turned around and started running. I could hear Elijah shouting after me. I couldn't hear what he was saying but Onyx assured me that he was begging me to come back and give him a chance but she would say that, wouldn't she?
