Chapter 1337
---- His jaw muscles were so tight, the veins were bulging through his skin. "She bears the mark of my house in a private place," Rousse answered. Thank the Goddess my father gave him a brain. He was a natural strategist. "Show me!" the Lord roared, snorting, glaring at the general's throat. This was a hair away from turning into a disaster. "Master, if the Lord insists so much..." I said, racking my brain for what the fuck to show him. "No! The tattoo is in a very intimate spot.
You will not show your private parts in front of another man." Rousse had fully embraced the role of my master and he was protecting me. Things were not going well. "Avery... intimate spot?" Oh, Goddess. That sounded more like a pre-massacre growl than a question. ---- "Sir, it's better to let this go. It's not worth making enemies with another werewolf realm over a sla... Lord!" I heard the woman's shout followed by a savage roar, and then a beast lunged at Rousse.
It happened so fast, the general didn't even have time to react. A crushing punch landed on Rousse's jaw. I heard bones crack, and he staggered back-but he didn't fall He squared his shoulders, ready to fight the Lord head-on. This wasn't good. They could accuse us of defiance and lock us up. "Master, no...!" I screamed, rushing to separate them. But then I saw the face of that wolf, half-shifted into his lycan form, fur sprouting in patches. He couldn't transform here!
His claws reached out toward Rousse's throat, and Rousse wasn't about to back down either. Driven by rage and panic, I managed to slip around Rousse and place myself right in front of him. ---- "VICTORIA, NO!" He shouted, grabbing my shoulders to push me aside. We were so fast that everything happening in a blink felt like slow motion, "Don't you dare push me aside, Rousse, that's an order!" I used all my Vlad aura and embedded it in that command.
His claws were inches from my face, my eyes locked onto the depths of those savage orbs. I don't know why I did it, why I was so sure he wouldn't hurt me... But he didn't. At the last second, he swung his claws away and slammed them into a wooden column instead. The deep marks he left nearly tore down the entire support. Goddess, that strike could've killed me. "What the hell are you doing?!noveldrama
I could've hurt you!" His furious eyes shifted into something that looked almost like anguish and concern. Damn hypocrite. ---- "I'd give my life for my Master if I had to. He's the only male who's worth it. Please, my Lord, leave us alone. I won't cause any more trouble in your realm." I said it without flinching, ignoring the dull pain in my chest. I could hear his racing heart betraying his emotions. He wasn't in full control like he wanted to pretend.
He lowered his hand and didn't say a word. Just stared at me. Those contradictions were clear in his expression What the hell was he fighting against? His silence was starting to piss me off. And right in the middle of that frozen scene, someone showed up to help. "Lord!"
