Another Way
Chapter 32 Another Way
As she sat there, her mind raced with possibilities. Was Ramos falling into her trap? Or was he already aware of her plan and was he just playing along to get what he wanted?
She knew that if he was aware of what she was doing, she was putting her life and the lives of the Sanchez brothers in danger.
But she also knew that she had to do something to save her father. She was so torn, and she didn’t know what to do next.
Just then, there was a knock on the door. She tensed up, not sure who was on the other side.
“It’s me,” came a deep, rumbling voice from behind the door. It was Alfredo, one of the Sanchez brothers. Raven let out a breath of relief and opened the door. Alfredo stood there, his expression unreadable.
“What’s going on?” she asked, trying to keep her voice steady.
“We have a problem,” Alfredo said, his tone grim. “Ramos is on to us. He knows that we’re trying to trick him.”
Raven felt like her stomach had dropped to her feet.
“How did he find out?” Raven asked, panic rising in her chest.
“We’re not sure,” Alfredo said. “But we have to act fast. We can’t let him find out about the operation.”
Raven’s mind was racing, trying to think of a plan. “What do we do?” she asked, her voice shaking slightly.
Alfredo looked at her, his eyes hard. “We need to take him out,” he said. “We need to eliminate the threat.”
Raven felt a surge of fear. “And what about my father?”
“We can’t just kill him!” she said, horrified at the thought. “We would be no better than him.”
“We don’t have a choice,” Alfredo said, his voice cold. “If we don’t take care of him, he’ll take care of us.”
Raven shook her head. “There has to be another way,” she said, desperately searching for an alternative. “Trust me, I want to kill that son of a bitch more than you know, but I can’t do that when he still has my father in his custody.”
Alfredo looked at her, his expression unreadable. “What do you suggest?” he asked. “Time is running out.”
“Why don’t you use me to stop him?” Raven said.
“Use you to stop him? I don’t understand what you mean Raven.” Alfredo said.
“You could find a way to drop me and I act like I escaped from you guys so that he would believe I said the truth.” Raven suggested.
“No, Raven. That’s a bad idea. “It’s too risky. What if he doesn’t believe you and then kills your father?” Alfredo said.
Alfredo was right. It was too risky. If she was caught, she could be in serious danger. And even if she wasn’t caught, she would still be in danger from Ramos.
But she was determined to find a way to stop him. She couldn’t just stand by and let him continue to hurt people.
“There has to be another way,” she said, her voice determined. “If we can just figure out his weakness, we can use that to our advantage.”
“I’m not sure what you mean,” Alfredo said.
“If we can find out what he’s most afraid of, we can use that to control him,” Raven said, thinking aloud. “That way, we wouldn’t have to resort to violence. We could just use his own fears against him.”
“How would we even go about doing that?” Alfredo asked. “We don’t know anything about his past.”
“We could find out,” Raven said. “We could talk to people who know him, or we could search through public records.
“Or you could just send me and I will find out what he is hiding.” Raven said.
“Raven, this is risky. You could get hurt or worse die. Because once Ramos finds out that you double crossed him, he won’t hesitate to put a bullet through your head.” Alfredo said.
“Well, I think that’s the only option we have right now Alfredo.” Raven said.
Alfredo studied her face for a moment, considering her words. He could see the determination in her eyes, and he knew she was serious.
But he also knew that it was a dangerous plan. He didn’t want anything to happen to her, but he also knew that they had to do something to stop Ramos.
“Okay,” he said. “We’ll try it your way. But if things start to go wrong, we’ll abort the plan, okay?”
Raven nodded. “Agreed,” she said.
“But first, we need to get you prepared,” Alfredo said. “You need to be able to convincingly fake the betrayal.
You’ll need to act like you’re really working for Ramos, even though you’re not.”
“That’s going to be tough,” Raven said. “I’ve never been a very good actress.”Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
