The Rebirth of a Scorned Heiress

Chapter 93: Swept Up In It

“Have you thought about it?” Bryan asked calmly, his eyes settling on Lily without any emotion.

Lily let out a sigh, picked up the glass of wine, and took a sip.

“I have thought about it. I mean, there is nothing much to think about anyway; hacking the vault is easy peasy. But I’m curious. Why do you want to break the Roux family vault?” She asked curiously.

“If I remember correctly, it is the most guarded part of the family. There’s no way you’ll be breaking in without causing a ruckus, which will lead to casualties. You’ve always been a careful one, so I’m curious as to why you’d risk your safety to break in there,” she explained, and Bryan let out a groan.

“There’s something in the vault that I need to get, and it’s related to your mother. It was after she was sent away from the family that the vault became extra guarded, so I’m guessing there is something that belongs to her in there,” he explained.

“Why would they keep her things in the vault after sending her out?” Lily asked with a frown.

“Your mom was supposed to take over the Roux family if she hadn’t married that scum of a man,” he began to explain. “She has always been appreciated by our father for her intelligence and innovation. Her position as the successor has been decided until she decides to revolt by marrying Henry.”

“It’s a secret to the outside world, but your mom was working with some special forces to develop some kind of technology back then, and she used the basement of the main house as her workshop. After she left, all of her instruments disappeared without a trace.”

“And you are suspecting they are in the vault?” Lily asked, and Bryan nodded.

“That’s right,” Bryan confirmed.

Lily hummed thoughtfully, her mind reeling with questions as she studied the man sitting in front of her.

“Even if they were locked in there, you are in the fashion industry; why would you need them?” She asked.

“You are just as cautious as your mother was,” Bryan breathed out a chuckle. “It’s your mother’s work; it’s only normal that you continue it, but that’s not the main reason.”

“Daphne and Raphael have recently started fighting against each other. The succession battle has started again now that no one is there to take over,” he voiced carefully, his brows furrowing in frustration.

“You want to take over the Roux family with my help?” Lily asked, going straight to the point, and Bryan paused, his eyes glazing over as he thought about his next words.

“I’m not necessarily interested in taking over the Roux family. It’s never my intention to do so. For me, it’s too stressful,” he replied.

“But you also don’t want them to take over?” She pointed it out.

“That’s not it either. I wouldn’t care so much about who takes over Roux, but recently those two have been digging into your mom’s past projects, and it’s a matter of time before they go to the vault. Whatever is in that vault, I have a feeling they aren’t meant to touch it,” he explained.

Lily leaned back in her chair, swirling the wine in her glass as she processed the information. The possibility of her mother’s work being locked away in the vault was intriguing, but the thought of breaking into such a heavily guarded area was daunting.

And she could tell that Bryan wasn’t telling her everything about the project. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .

She could tell he knew what was behind the guarded doors of the vault, but for some reason, he was hesitant to let her know about it.

“Alright, say we do this,” Lily began, her mind already working through potential strategies. “We’ll need a solid plan. Getting in and out unnoticed won’t be easy, and we can’t afford any mistakes.”

“Even though you are a Roux, you might get killed if they find out what you are trying to do,” she warned.

A small smile played at the corners of Bryan’s mouth. “I knew I could count on you, Lily. Your skills as a hacker are second to none. I’ll leave the planning to you. You do all the brain work; I’ll provide the manpower.”

Lily nodded, her determination growing as she considered the challenge ahead. She took another sip of her wine before setting the glass down with a resolute clink.

“Also, I’ll need all the information about the vault’s security system. We need to know exactly what we’re up against.”

“I’ll get you the blueprints and security details of the Roux family vault,” Bryan promised. “Just tell me what else you need.”

“I’ll let you know,” Lily replied, her fingers already itching to dive into the world of code and circuits. “Once I have a better understanding of the security measures in place, I can start devising a plan to bypass them without raising any alarms.”

“Alright, I’ll send the details as soon as possible,” Bryan promised as he got up to leave.

“Don’t send it through the Internet; I’ll need the hard copy. I’ll stimulate it on my side,” she instructed, and he nodded.

“No problem; I know I can count on you.” He said that and walked away.

Lily let out a sigh.

{You are really going to break into the vault?} The system asked.

“Yes, I’m curious how my mother knew about you and other things. Looking into her previous works might give me a general idea,” Lily replied as she stared at the ceiling, deep in thought.

After her rebirth, all she had planned was to avenge both her and her mother’s deaths, and getting involved with others was never part of them.

There are way too many anomalies; not only had her mother predicted her death, but she was even sure whom she’d reincarnate as.

“It’s obvious all this isn’t just a coincidence. And unless I actively look into things, I won’t find any answers,” she breathed out as she got up.

“Although I asked that things should be interesting in the coming days, isn’t this a little bit too interesting?” She chuckled and got on her computer.

“No matter how interesting it is, I’m at the centre of it all. If I don’t prepare properly, I’ll get swept up in it.”
