Chapter 697
Marshall quickly nodded and answered, "I'm fine."
Noelle then turned to Marla. "I'm sorry. I just found out about this. You-"
"The doctor said he's fine," Marla replied calmly. "And Dylan was here last night, so nothing serious happened."
"I didn't do much. It's mainly because Mr. Swift is strong enough to pull through. But the doctor said you need more rest and can't overwork yourself you have to remember that."
"Exactly," Marla immediately chimed in, agreeing with Dylan. "I've said it before— just let others handle the company. We're not young anymore. What's the point of making so much money? It's not like we can take it with us when we die, nor do we have anyone to "
Marla suddenly trailed off. Then, she slowly turned to look at Noelle.
Noelle stood there, her already uneasy hands clenched even tighter.
Just as the atmosphere was about to freeze, Dylan quickly said, "I should head back now."
Following his head, Marla said, "Yes. You've stayed up all night. Go home and get some rest. I really can't thank you enough for helping us."
"You're too kind. But like I said, it's the least I can do."
Noelle had no idea when Dylan had grown so close to the Swift family. At the moment, every look they gave him was filled with trust and admiration.
She suddenly thought of Jean, who had passed away sometime ago. Yet, her death had gone completely unnoticed in the country. But given her family's downfall and the fact that her parents were no longer in this world, it wasn't all that surprising that no one seemed to care about the cause of her death.
"Noelle, could you walk me out?" Dylan asked, pulling Noelle back to the present.
Only then did she realize that Marla insisted on seeing Dylan off. So, Dylan had passed the task to Noelle.
Marla quickly turned to look at her with pleading eyes, leaving Noelle with no choice but to nod.
After exchanging a few parting words with Marshall, Dylan finally stepped out of the hospital room with Noelle following close behind him.
"You shouldn't blame Mr. Freeman," Dylan suddenly said.
Noelle finally looked up at him.
He smiled and continued,
"Everything happened so suddenly last night. He knew how much your cared about Mr. and Mrs. Swift's well-being, both physically and emotionally. That's why he chose to keep it from you."
Noelle pressed her lips together before replying, "I know."noveldrama
She had never intended to blame Hendrix in the first place.
Her response seemed to catch Dylan off guard. He fell silent for a moment, as if unsure how to continue with the conversation.
After a brief pause, he finally said, "Looks like things are going well between you two. So, in the end, you still chose him."
Noelle didn't respond.
Dylan smirked. "But doesn't it ever make you sad when you think about the past? Because no matter what, those hurts still exist, don't they? Or did you just forget it all?"
Noelle suddenly stopped walking.

"And what does that have to with you?"
