I was hungover, with one part of my eye pulsing in pain, but despite it, I felt better.

The girl was alive and her parents were already driving up to the North with Theon and Miro to come retrieve her. Finally, I can breathe again. I couldn’t wait to see my mates as well. We hadn’t even been able to properly talk since the whole incident.

Does Miro finally accept Theon as a co–mate? Will they be able to have a relationship with their sister? Do I want a relationship with my Uncle? Am I safe here?

So many thoughts went through my head as I stared at Adam’s sleeping form in the hospital.

The Healers had said he had no major injuries and with a special drip, he’d be brand new in no time.

The door opened, catching my attention, and in came my mother carrying a bright smile followed by Dominic, whose expression was the exact opposite of hers.

I tried to match the intensity of my mother’s smile, but I wasn’t feeling it, so I settled for a wave.

“How are you?” She asked enthusiastically.

“I’m okay.” I replied.

My mother’s eyes crossed to Adam and settled on the cuffs holding his wrists to the frame of the bed.

“Sorry, we have to do all that.” She winced, throwing a subtle glance at her brother. “Security reasons, you know?”

I nodded slowly. “I understand. I’m just glad he managed to save that little girl in time.”

“Yes. We asked her some questions and her story aligns with what your friend said.” Dominic piped up, and I frowned.

“You don’t trust Adam?

Dominic turned his silver gaze to me. “I don’t even trust your mates. I only trust you and that grace is what extends to your friends.”

I couldn’t even argue. He had every right to be suspicious of Westerners in his Kingdom especially considering the beef they had. The sound of my mother’s phone ringing jarred our attention, then she apologized and walked out of the room to take

  1. it.

“Thank you.” I whispered, and he nodded in reply.

“Once he’s fine, he will be thoroughly vetted before we can let him go.”

I nodded in agreement, and then I noticed Dominic giving me an intense stare. I was just about to ask what was wrong when I felt a prod against the wall of my mind. It felt like a dormant door that had been closed for years, finally budging and trying to open.

After a little more forceful nudge, the door of my mind opened and then I felt a bond form.

“Hi Ryn.” Dominic’s voice sounded loud and clear in my mind.

Hi….Uncle,

His eyes smiled. “I was thinking if we could…” He paused, his face etched in thought, “I was thinking if you would like to…

I raised a brow in question. “Like to, what?”

“There is this new restaurant that opened in the city, I was thinking maybe you’d like to come check it out with me. So we can talk and get to know each other more.”

Despite my surprise, I smiled, “I thought you already knew everything about me

“I still don’t know your favorite color.”

“I never really thought of it.”

“You should. I would also love to know other things about you. Like how you grew up and if you have any sweet memories.”

“I have to warn you. My story is tragic.”

His eyes smiled again. “I know a thing or two about tragic stories.”

“Ryn? We’re back. Where are you?” Miro’s voice slithered in my head and I rose from my seat instantly. One look at Dominic, and he stepped out of the way so I could pass and then, just as I got to the door, I turned around.

“Choose the time and place. We have a date.” I replied, before sprinting down the hall, out the hospital and straight down the street where Dominic’s house sat.

I arrived just in time to see the little girl reunite with her parents and a great sense of relief coursed through me. At least one good thing came out of this situation.

Then my wolf stirred, bringing my awareness to the fact that I was being watched.

I raised my eyes to find the twins both watching me with intensity.

A nasty shudder coursed down my spine, bringing an awareness to the heat forming deep within my core. Miro approached first, making my heart do a somersault with his black on black attire. Maybe it was my wolf getting her sluttiness on, or maybe it was something else, but I couldn’t get my eyes off his biceps, straining through his shirt.

“Hey, baby.” He gave me a heart–stopping smile before hooking his arm around my waist and pulling me close into a hug. Melting into him was instant and from his back, I saw Theon in the distance watching us.

A pang of guilt pricked me. I wasn’t being fair to Theon.

He deserves my affection too.

Miro pulled back, and he gave me a rare smile before planting a kiss on my lips. Instantly, my body came alive, wanting more and as I indulged, I remembered there was a kid around.

An involuntary giggle escaped my lips as I pulled back, and when Miro leaned in again, I jokingly reminded him that we

were not alone.

“Yeah. Of course.” Lle muttered, then his smile faded. “Speaking of, I have to go back to the West.”

He saw my frown and continued. “I just want to make sure they arrive back safely and keep what they know to themselves.” “Will you be performing that Alpha thingy your Dad did to you?”

He frowned. “What Alpha thingy?

I closed my eyes and sighed. I totally forgot he lost his memories. “Never mind. Do what you have to do. Okay?”

Miro stared, and I could feel a prick of uneasiness coming from him. “Are you mad at me?”

“What?! No!” I stated sincerely and after assessing my features, he smiled, kissed my forehead and left.

By the time, I looked Theon’s way. He was gone, so I traced his scent till I ended up at a door not too far from mine.

I was about to knock when I heard his voice.

“Come in.”

So I went in, instantly finding him standing in the middle of the room, with his back to me, shirtless, but with pants on. My eyes immediately drifted to his snake tattoo and how magnificent the giant cobra looked slithering on his back.

“I want a tattoo. I think I’m going to get it as soon as all of this is over.”

Theon nodded, not turning around, nor taking his attention off what he was doing. I went closer, taking deep inhales of his rich apple pie scent. That’s when I noticed he was dismantling his Glock and cleaning it.

I reached out and touched his arm. He froze, then he turned towards me, and that’s when I realized his eyes were pitch black.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

He ground his jaw, veins pulsing at his temple. “I miss you.”

Instantly, my heart broke for him and I slid my hand into his silky hair, drawing him closer till our faces were inches apart.

“I miss you too.” I whispered, and immediately, Theon crushed his lips against mine.
