Chapter 24
Chapter 24
I open the door and slowly enter the spacious room, creating an amenable sound on the dark wooden
floor. The grand room is painted in light golden color, a huge bed covered in a plain white sheet in the
middle with a silver footboard bench in front. The front wall has a large LED TV and a crystal chandelier
is hanging from the ceiling emanating the upper half of the room in a pleasant shade of crispy gold. The
whole place is garnished with some luxurious furniture while some photographs and sceneries are
covering another wall. A big balcony is on one side and the outside view is easily seeable for the thin
glass door that is separating it from the room.
I walk forward towards the porch when a certain picture catches my attention. Turning on my heels, I
walk back to the wall where the picture is hanging on.
There Ethan is standing in the gym I guess, with no shirt on, hands clutching the rings, sweats pouring
from the forehead down to chest; looking all sexy!
So that means I will have to stay in a room with a half-naked picture of him?!
Lol!
Who knew I would be happy to live with someone whom I know for only two months?
I wasn't supposed to be here. But here I am. Sometimes life throws us into some situations that were
never deduced to happen. Despite not having any presages, somehow we make us congenial to it
under the pressure of circumstances. Because that's life. If everything happened the way we thought of
it, then how will we learn to survive? If life gave us the prognosis of the future, then there would have
been no danger. But remember life is not a fairytale where a prince charming will always wait for you.
Here on the cruel surface of earth, if you lose your shoe at midnight, you are drunk.
That's why I am here. To welcome the unknown consequences of the future.
"The guy is so sexy, isn't he?" Ethan's voice startles me as I hurriedly look back to see him coming
towards me, hands stuffed into the pockets and with his signature smirk plastered on his face.
For how long he is here? He definitely saw me gawking at his picture!
I roll my eyes, "I wasn't thinking about that."
"Oh really? Then what were you doing?" He asks, frowning playfully.
"I was thinking something else."
"So you want to say that I am not sexy?" He says with a fake painful expression, coming closer.
"Ugh! You are disgusting." I huff loudly stomping away hearing him chuckling behind.
Pushing the door open, I get inside of the huge balcony that has a glass border surrounding the
corners with no roof. I like it this way, the open sky. Some trees are placed in the corners with a rocking
chair and a center table with pink roses in the middle. I walk forward and lean against the border,
resting my hands on it. The scenery before me is stunning. The leaves of the trees are gently blowing
because of the light wind, creating a pleasant sound that is blending with birds chirping. A lake can be
seen at a distance with shining blue water.
"This is beautiful," I say lightly as Ethan comes and leans in like me. A lock of hair falls onto the side of
his forehead. The brown hues are glistening for the shaft of sunlight.
How I wish I could run my hand through them!
Oh my God!
What the hell did I just say?
I'm really changing.
"You like it?" He asks, looking at me.
"Yeah, very much so." I smile. As if my smile reflects on his face just as a pretty smile falls on his lips.
My eyes involuntarily shift from his eyes to his shimmering lips, his gaze following mine. Instantly my
sense hits me and I look away.
I am starting to doubt my own sanity now!
"This is so beautiful. It will be hard to leave."
"If that happens." He murmurs, smirking.
"What do you mean?"
"Who knows what will happen in the future?"
"But I won't stay here forever, right?" I ask, smirking back.
"If destiny wants, you will." He replies seriously with a different kind of confidence in his voice.
The sunbeam is falling on his face making him squint slightly. His unruly hair is shaking in a swift
movement and as he stares into my eyes through his dark orbs, something in me stirs making me want
to believe those words.
But how?
Just the thought of it scares me. Even if I try, I can't just accept it. How better it would have been if I
didn't meet him. But now that I am here, I can't just back off and I can't go ahead either. It's
complicated.
"That won't happen." I shake my head, smiling, trying to cut back the tension that's been growing
between us.
He looks a bit disappointed at my reply but as always, he instantly covers it with his mighty smirk.
"Do you really want to leave me?" He tries to sound like joking but looking at his face, I feel like there
was something more behind his words.
These days I don't know how but I get to know him a lot. It's not about his family or those things but his
feelings. Just one look, just one eye contact is enough to say if he is happy or hurt. And when he said Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
that, he wasn't joking.
"Why wouldn't I?" I ask in a slow voice which wipes the fake smile that he was trying to hide his
emotions with off his face.
"Because you don't want to either?"
It sounds more like a question as his face turns nervous. I gulp down the feeling that was being
provoked inside me and turn my face cold.
"And why is that?" I ask, maintaining steady eye contact with him.
He tries to say something but then stops and looks away. The air becomes heavier as we don't hear
anything else except our quick breathing. As if sensing it, he looks back and moves closer, tension
thick in the air.
Despite the cool breeze, I feel like my face starts steaming just as his sweaty hand makes contact with
it. Looking down at me, he gulps. He tilts his head to get a better view and leans in, touching his
forehead with mine. He closes his eyes and it feels like gathering all his courage, he whispers,
"Because you feel the same way I feel for you, don't you?"
