Chapter 56
Chapter 56
Clara was at a loss for how to refuse.
“Um… my place is pretty cramped, and there’s only one room! If Mi Melendez stayed here, it’d be a real drag for you!”
11 take your room, you can bunk with your son”
“Night, “Emmett said, getting up and heading straight for Clara’s room, shutting the door behind him.
Clara felt a sense of unease.
If she continued to interact closely with Emmett, it felt like it was only a matter of time before he discovered her past!
Aiden returned to his room, intending to read for a bit before going to sleep, only to be surprised by Sophia!
“Aiden, are you asleep?”
Aiden quickly got up to open the door, “Granny, what’s up?”
Sophia smiled and walked in, “Aiden, tell granny, do you like the lady from today?”
The one dad brought home?”
“Yep! You’ve been nagging for a mom, right? Your dad wants her to be your mom. How do you feel about that?” Sophia was curious to know her grandson’s thoughts. After all, he’s just a kid! If he was resistant to Clara, things wouldn’t be peaceful at home in the future.
“Um… I think… she seems pretty cool!” Aiden broke out in a grin, “Granny, is she gonna live with us from now on?*
“Do you want her to?”
Aiden thought about and nodded, “Yeah! Then I can tell others I have a mom too! And they won’t make fun of me anymore!”
Sophia patted his head, smiling, “Then I’ll talk to your dad about it! Also… there’s something else I need to tell you!” Nôvel(D)rama.Org's content.
Aiden felt uneasy seeing his granny looking so serious.
“What is it?”
“It seems your new mom has a son too! You’ll meet him sooner or later. Can you promise to get along with your new brother?”
“Have you met him, granny?”
Sophia shook her head, “Not yet! But I’m sure I will at some point. We’re bound to cross paths.”
“Then I’ll do as you say, granny! Don’t worry; I won’t bully my little brother.”
“Good boy! I knew my Aiden is the sweetest, most understanding child!”
Aiden beamed, “Granny, I’ll be a kid with a mom too from now on!”
“Yes, you will! You’ll have a mom, and Alex will too.” Sophia sighed inwardly after saying this.
She felt guilty towards this grandson!
If she hadn’t insisted on having a child for the Melendez family first back then, Aiden wouldn’t have such a sad story. He had never even met his biological mother! It’s just too cruel for a child.
That night, Clara barely slept a wink.
She couldn’t fall asleep, so she covertly texted Alex and Aiden from under her blanket.
Alex didn’t respond, he must be out having fun with Elio! Aiden texted back after a while.
[Mom, are you still awake?),
[I miss you, I can’t sleep! You’re not asleep yet?)
[Yeah! I’m reading]
Seeing the text, Clara pictured Aiden’s well–behaved and understanding demeanour.
She felt relieved.
She had been worried that without a mother’s love, the child might develop personality issues. But now it seemed her worries were unnecessary.
