Chapter 619
Roman tried to calm himself down.
When he learned how to swim back then, he could hold his breath for up to four minutes! An ordinary person wouldn't be able to hold their breath for longer than two minutes.
He didn't think Hera could hold her breath longer than he could, so he purposely led her to the center of the lake where it was the deepest. This way, when she drowned, he wouldn't have anything to do with it.
Before they reached the center of the lake, Roman realized that he was almost at his limit. But Hera didn't seem like she would let go of him anytime soon.
She forcefully pulled him underwater as if she wanted to drag him down to hell with her.
Panic engulfed Roman's heart. When he started to fret, he couldn't hold his breath any longer and choked on the water. Things took a turn for the worse for him after that.
As he struggled in the water, the sound of gurgling as he thrashed about could be heard even at the banks of the lake.
Linda stood at the bank with her phone in hand. She had been recording the whole thing ever since Hera started countering Roman's attacks.Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
As Linda recorded the scene, she ordered the other two bodyguards in the lake, "Roman's being dragged into the depths of the lake! Hurry up and save him!"
The bodyguards continued swimming in Hera and Roman's direction.
Realizing that Roman's struggles were weakening as time passed, Hera quickly pressed her hand against the side of his neck to get his pulse. Then, she shoved him in the direction of the bodyguards and quickly swam back to the shore.
"Do you know how dangerous it was just now? You wanted to kill Roman, didn't you!" Linda yelled the moment Hera reached the shore.
Paying Linda no mind, Hera wiped the water off her face and went over to Xavier to see how he was doing.
With timely CPR, he managed to cough up the water that was trapped in his lungs. Although he looked rather out of sorts, he gradually regained consciousness.
After taking his pulse, Hera decided that he was simply frightened. There was no threat to his health or life at the moment.
Gemma knelt on the ground beside him, her eyes swollen and red from crying. Seeing that he was finally awake, she muttered, "Thank you, Lord, for saving him."
By the time Xavier woke up, the bodyguards had already rescued Roman and were administering CPR on him.
Meanwhile, Linda started yelping anxiously. "Roman, tell me you're alright! You have to be alright!"
"How did they fall into the water?" Karen asked frantically. She rushed over the moment she received the news. She brought along two family doctors and some maids.
Even Aurora, with her bulging belly, came to the scene. She had been worrying about Roman ever since learning that he was in trouble.
"You're finally here, Karen! God
knows what could have happened to
Roman if you hadn't come! Look at
what she's done to him!" Linda
hollered. She then showed Karen the
recording.
Karen wasn't in the mood to watch the recording. She ordered the family doctors to check if Xavier and Roman were okay.
She was especially worried about Roman since he was still being resuscitated.
"That's not true," said Gemma while standing up. "Hera went in to save Xavier."
"Even if she wanted to save Xavier, she shouldn't have kicked Roman!" Linda spat, adding fuel to the fire. "Everyone saw it just now! She kicked Roman away and even pulled him into the lake! She wanted to drown him! This video is the proof! She wanted him dead!"
Roman just so happened to regain consciousness. He sat up from the ground and locked eyes with Hera.
The feeling of dread that enveloped him when he almost drowned not long ago washed over him once more. Shuddering at the memory, he threw himself into Aurora's arms.
"Mom... I thought I'd never be able to see you anymore... " He burst into tears after that.
His face was pale after getting such a shock, making him look even more pitiful as he cried.
Aurora's heart broke for him. She couldn't bear to see him cry like that. Hastily, she pulled out a handkerchief to wipe his tears away.
"Don't cry, Roman," she comforted him. "I'm right here."
But Roman carried on weeping. "She's so scary! She kicked me in the water and dragged me down. It was so scary! I thought I would die!"
Hera simply watched from the side
as she dried her hair with the towel one of the maids gave her. It was like watching Linda and Roman perform a duet. The two of them
were so eager to accuse her and put
all the blame on her.
Hera then glanced at Xavier, who was still curled up on the ground. The fear and shock in his eyes was as clear as day. He was even trembling after so long.
It was a stark difference compared to Roman's reaction.
With a sneer, Hera said, "Xavier, why don't you tell us how you and Xavier fell into the water in the first place?"
