Chapter 838
Chapter 838:
“You always cook the kids’ favorite dishes, why are you so excited today?” Jayden raised his head and glanced at Coral.

For a moment, Coral didn’t know what to answer.
Jessica interjected, “Coral always cares about the children. Now, she’s finally realized that she has to worry about us.”
Jayden let out a sigh. From the expressions on all of their faces he could tell they had known about her health problem, “I only keep it from her because I’m afraid she’s going to be like this.”
None of the adults at the dining table had worked up an appetite. Only the children knew nothing about it. Amanda grabbed some food for him,
“Grandpa, are you unhappy today?”
Jayden rubbed his head, “I’m not unhappy. Even if I wasn’t happy, I’d be happy as soon as I saw you, Amanda.” After that, he glanced at the others and said, “Let’s eat.”
“Let’s start eating.” Dolores had no appetite, but she still urged the others to eat. She didn’t want the atmosphere to be so stressful, which was not good for Jayden’s illness.
First of all, he had to be in a good mood, which helped to cure him.
After dinner, Dolores took the baby upstairs. Matthew went upstairs as soon as he got home. He said he had some urgent business to attend to, so he didn’t come down for dinner. Dolores knew it was because of Jayden’s condition.
She pushed the bedroom door open. The room was completely dark. The curtain was not drawn down in front of the window. He saw a black figure sitting there. He walked over and turned on the lamp on the bedside table. The yellow light illuminated the bedroom. She laid the baby on the bed. The little one hadn’t slept yet, but he didn’t cry after being put to bed.
Dolores walked over to the window and sat on his lap. Matthew wrapped his hands around her waist, pressing his head into her arms. She wrapped her arms around him and asked, “What did the doctor say?”
Matthew remained silent for a long moment.
Dolores could clearly feel that he was trembling slightly. His lips and cheek, which clung to her, were icy cold.
Feeling sorry for him, Dolores kissed him on the forehead. She knew he was the most affected after learning that Jayden had cancer, “Whatever happens, our children and I will always be with you. I also want to transfer the C-Town tailoring shop to Theresa.”noveldrama
Theresa had the ability and owed something that belonged to her.
In fact, Dolores had had that thought for a long time. It was only because there wasn’t a good opportunity before. Now, she would take the opportunity to do it, and Theresa shouldn’t refuse.
“I’ll stay home with our children. I won’t go anywhere. I’ll be by your side and take care of Dad.” She cupped his face with her hands, making him look her in the eye, “It bothers me so much to see you so frustrated.”
Matthew pulled his hands away from her, pressing her head back into his arms. He said huskily, “Let me calm down.” Dolores was silent as she hugged him.
After a long while.
“He has advanced lung cancer. It’s spreading. Now he has a shadow on his brain,” Matthew said quietly in her arms.
According to the doctor, the cancer cells could have spread in Jayden’s brain, which was quite dangerous. If it hadn’t, he could hold on for three to six more months. Otherwise, if it had spread in the brain, he could only have one to three more months.
It was cruel news.
Dolores had fully prepared herself, but her eyes were still red. She had thought they would have a year or two left. To her surprise, it had gotten so serious.
“What did the doctor suggest?” she asked in a hoarse tone.
“The doctor suggested surgery. The other treatments have rather limited effects. Dad doesn’t want to have the operation.” Matthew left Dolores’ arms and gave her a look under the dim light, “He’s quite stubborn.”
So, he couldn’t do anything.
Jayden said he was too old, and he wasn’t willing to do the surgery on his head.
Dolores stroked his face, “Is there any conservative treatment for him?”. Matthew nodded.
“I’ve already sent people to the mansion to get him cleaned up. We can move in tomorrow.”
“Wah… Wah…” The baby suddenly started crying on the bed.
Matthew wanted to get up. Dolores took the opportunity to stand up.
“I’ll hold him,” Matthew said. Since he had been sitting for a long time and Dolores was sitting on his lap, his thighs were numb. He reached down and rubbed them. Dolores squatted down, helping him rub.
Soon she felt much better. She carried her son. The baby wasn’t hungry or peeing. He just wanted to be held. As soon as Matthew held him, he stopped crying.
Matthew had already held him often enough, but he was not yet skilled enough. Dolores said she would go check on the other two children and left.
Jessica had just finished bathing them. They were in their pajamas. Dolores pulled them to sit on the bed and said, “I have something to tell you boys.”
“What is it?” Amanda threw herself into her mother’s arms. Dolores held her and pulled Amanda into her lap.
Andrew sat down next to them like an adult and asked, “What happened? I noticed that no one had an appetite at dinner. After dinner, Grandpa Kevin went to Grandpa’s room. He hasn’t come out yet.”
Dolores rubbed his head and said, “Tomorrow we’re moving to the Nelson Mansion. We used to stay there.”
“I don’t mind,” Amanda said, “As long as you’re moving in too.”
“Of course, we’ll all move in,” Dolores hugged her and said, “Amanda, from now on, you need to worry more about Grandpa, okay?”
“I love and care a lot about Grandpa.” Amanda had matured. However, Dolores didn’t tell her directly, so she still didn’t understand that her grandfather was sick.
Andrew realized something, however, and asked, “Is Grandpa sick?” If not, why would his mother suddenly remind him?
Dolores reached out and took her son in her arms. She didn’t deny it or admit it. Instead, she told him earnestly, “Grandpa is getting older. He will be very happy if you and Amanda are always by his side. From now on, you should accompany him and talk to him more.”
“Mom, don’t worry. We will,” Andrew said obediently.
“Mommy, where’s Aunt Renee?” Since Theresa had changed her appearance and had a new name, they called her Aunt Renee instead of Aunt Theresa.
Theresa didn’t eat much at dinner. She went out after dinner. It seemed that she had received a call from Armand.
Dolores didn’t know what exactly had happened. However, she could guess that it might have something to do with Elizabeth.
After learning that Jayden had become ill, she didn’t have much energy to worry about anyone else’s business.
Theresa got a call from Armand after dinner. He said his phone was dead earlier, so he didn’t see her message until he turned the phone back on.
So, he called her right away.
Elizabeth’s head was injured. Although she was in no danger, she was in a coma for a long time. Until now, she had not woken up.
Listening to Armand, Theresa realized she was not well. Although he insisted he was fine, Theresa could tell from his tone that he was upset.
Concerned for him, she drove to the hospital.
When she arrived, Armand was sitting on the bench in the hallway. He lowered his head, giving the impression of being frustrated.
“Hello, Armand,” Theresa called to him.
Armand looked up and saw her. His dull eyes suddenly lit up. He stood up and asked, “Why are you here?”
Theresa walked over to him. At first she was worried about him, but she replied, “I’ve come to see Mrs. Bernie.”
Armand was a little disappointed. He thought she had come because she was worried about him. “She’s in the living room,” he said.
“You haven’t eaten anything so far, have you?” Theresa could tell his voice was hoarse.
Armand said, “I haven’t had time yet.”
“I’ll buy you some food.” Theresa turned away. Armand followed her, “I’ll go with you.”
Theresa didn’t respond, tacitly approving.
They walked shoulder to shoulder. It was nighttime, so there weren’t many people in the hallway.
As they left the hospital, they walked across the street to a noodle restaurant.
Armand ordered a bowl of beef noodles. He asked, “Theresa, have you had dinner yet?”
Theresa sat down and replied, “I’ve already had dinner.”
Armand nodded and asked again, “Are you thirsty?”.
Theresa said, “No, I’m not.”
Armand tried to find a topic to talk to her about, but didn’t know what to talk about. Suddenly, he voiced, “There’s an accident today. Let’s deal with the divorce tomorrow.”
Theresa clasped her hands under the table. She looked very calm: “Are you so eager to divorce me?”.
Armand looked at her, “Aren’t you ready? I’ve been a drag on you for too long. I can’t drag you down anymore.”
“Now you’ve realized you’re a drag on me, do you want to make it up to me?”. Theresa could no longer keep her cool.
She was so angry at his words.
“What do you want?” Armand was quite generous with her. He was willing to give her whatever she wanted.
“What else do you have?” He had left her all his money. She wondered what else he had now.
Theresa took a deep breath. She was afraid she would lose control if she kept talking to him. She got up and prepared to leave.
“Wait, Theresa.” Armand followed her to stand up.
Theresa said, “Go on with your dinner. I want to go out for some air.”
Armand followed her restlessly, “What happened to you?”
“I’m fine!” Theresa felt extremely irritated, “Don’t follow me.”
“I’m worried about you.” Armand pressed his lips together, “Are you angry?”
Theresa glared back at him, staring at him under the lamppost. Grimacing, she said, “You asked me what I want, didn’t you, will you give me what I want?”
Armand answered without hesitation, “Yes. I’ll give you what you want as long as I can give it to you.”
“Okay. Since you know you owe me, give me your life,” Theresa said from spite.
Armand looked at her angry face, “You are angry.” This time she didn’t ask him, but made a statement.
“Why did you skip my question, do you want to go back on your word?” asked Theresa aggressively.
Armand stared at her and said affectionately, “No. I said I’ll give you whatever you want. I’m a man of my word. I’ve already given up something I’m more reluctant with, what more can I give?”
