Chapter 845
Chapter 845:.
The call went through, but no one picked up.
Jasmine didn’t hang up immediately. She waited until the answering machine said, “The number you have dialed is not available. Please try again later.”
Jasmine put the phone away and stared at the space in the stairwell. She blamed herself. It was her ignorance that caused what happened today.
Sadness filled Jasmine’s heart and her eyes turned red.
Jasmine didn’t realize how long she had been sitting on the stairs. Her phone rang in her hand. Jasmine looked down and saw it was Boyce. She had so much to tell him at first, but now she didn’t know how to tell him what had happened.
Jasmine wet herself and tried to adjust her emotions. Then, she took the call.
Boyce asked, “What’s taking you so long?” Jasmine remained silent.
Boyce reacted quickly. He asked, “Are you mad because I didn’t take your call? My phone was in the office and I left for a meeting. I called you immediately when I saw your missed call.”
“I wasn’t mad at you. I’m mad at myself,” Jasmine lowered her gaze, “What time are you coming home today?”
“I might be home late tonight. I won’t be back for dinner. I have a meeting with my colleagues tonight,” Boyce ascended. So his colleagues wanted to treat him to a meal.
Boyce couldn’t refuse their offer.
“I’ll wait for you,” Jasmine pouted, “I have something to tell you tonight.”
Boyce said, “Okay.”
“You get back to work. I’m hanging up,” whereupon Jasmine hung up the phone.

Jasmine pulled herself together and walked out of the hospital.
Jasmine waited for Boyce to get home from six o’clock in the evening, and Boyce didn’t get home until eleven o’clock at night. Boyce was wearing a shirt and uniform over his shoulder. He pushed open the door.
Jasmine was sitting on the couch and curled up. He turned around when he heard the door open. Jasmine could see Boyce’s face flushed under the dim lights. She slipped on her slippers and walked over to Boyce.
Jasmine could smell Boyce’s alcoholic odor.
Jasmine frowned, “Have you been drinking?”
“A little. My colleagues insisted. I had to,” Boyce said.
Jasmine helped Boyce hang up his uniform. Then, she helped him to the couch. Boyce said, “I’m not drunk – didn’t you have something to tell me?” Jasmine handed Boyce a glass of water.
Boyce took a sip and set the glass on the table. He asked, “What did you want to tell me?”
Jasmine stared at him.
Boyce took Jasmine’s hand and said, “Jasmine, I’ve been promoted.”
Usually, Jasmine would hug Boyce, give him an adoring look and say, “Congratulations.”
But Jasmine couldn’t do that now.
“What’s wrong?” Jasmine used to be encouraging. Boyce was uncomfortable with the sudden change in attitude, “Are you mad because I came home late?”
Boyce would check to see if he had done something wrong when he saw Jasmine unhappy.
Boyce was left wondering, and being late home was the only possible answer to why Jasmine seemed unhappy.
Jasmine shook her head, “No.”
“So it’s because I’ve had a few drinks? They’re my buddies…”
“Boyce,” Jasmine stopped Boyce, “I… I…”
It should be happy news, but Jasmine ruined it.
“What’s wrong?” Boyce reached out and hugged Jasmine.
Jasmine stayed in Boyce’s arms and asked in a husky voice, “Will you forgive me if I’ve done something wrong?”
“Of course,” Boyce kissed Jasmine’s forehead.
“I…I’m pregnant,” Jasmine nervously steeled herself to tell Boyce what had happened.
Boyce wasn’t paying much attention, “Pregnant?”.
Jasmine grabbed Boyce’s shirt and bit her lips, “I’m pregnant with your child.”
Boyce was stunned by the surprise. Boyce didn’t have time to think about what he had heard, and couldn’t even begin to describe what he was feeling now.
Boyce asked carefully and softly, “When did it happen?”
Then, Boyce hugged Jasmine tightly. He looked overwhelmed, “You’re pregnant! I’m going to be a father.”
It was startling news. Boyce couldn’t control his emotions,
“Jasmine, I’m so happy.”
Boyce didn’t know how to begin to describe his happiness.
Suddenly, Jasmine started crying in his arms.
Boyce was startled, “Why are you crying?”
Then, Boyce began to wipe Jasmine’s tears away.
Jasmine cried even more. She choked back sobs, “I took some medicine.”
Boyce was confused, “What medicine?”.
Jasmine looked at Boyce with teary eyes, “I…I didn’t know I was pregnant. I wasn’t feeling well, so I went to a clinic. The doctor told me I had gastroenteritis and gave me some medicines. I took them, but it didn’t get better after a day. So I went to the hospital the next day. The doctor told me I was pregnant after some checks. But the medicines I took…”.
Boyce took several deep breaths and tried to calm down, “Why didn’t you go to the hospital from the beginning?”
“It was annoying…”
Suddenly, Boyce stood up. The good news and the bad news came too fast. He needed some time to digest it. Boyce used to be quiet and calm, but now he paced back and forth in front of the couch. Jasmine thought Boyce was angry. She couldn’t help but keep crying.noveldrama
Jasmine was shaking. She kept sobbing, “It’s all my fault.”
Boyce glanced at Jasmine, and Jasmine was heartbroken. He sat back down on the couch and hugged her, “It’s okay. It’s going to be okay. It’s not your fault.”
Jasmine was young. She didn’t want this to happen.
“It is,” Jasmine blamed herself.
“Tomorrow we’ll go to the hospital and see what the doctor says,” Boyce wiped Jasmine’s tears, “Don’t cry.”
