Chapter 37 Period
Chapter 37 Period
Liam saw Amber shivering amidst the biting wind when his MPV approached the apartment.
She looked haggard—her long hair was tousled, and her nose and lips were red. He felt a dull pain in
his heart when he saw her.
He peeled his eyes away from her and instructed the driver, “Mr. Baker, please ask Ms. Currie to get
inside the car.”
Mr. Baker immediately pulled up next to where Amber was standing and opened the window. “Ms.
Currie, please get into the car! It’s freezing outside!”
Amber looked relieved when she saw Mr. Baker and quickly scurried over to the MPV. Just as she was
about to open the door to the front seat next to Mr. Baker, the door to the back passenger seat was
opened.
It was Liam. He was watching her with a nonchalant face.
Thinking that it would be inappropriate to snub him, Amber had no choice but to ease herself inside the
back of the MPV.
“Didn’t I ask you to wait for me at Vincent’s?” Liam glanced at her windswept hair and questioned her in
a frigid tone.
“She’s such an idiot to wait outside when the weather is this terrible,” he thought.
Amber responded in a cold tone similar to his.
“I enjoy the chilly weather.” Her eyes were fixed on the window when she answered him.
“Goodness gracious, who does he think he is? Why do I have to wait at the place he asked me to?
He’s just my business partner, not my father!” Amber grumbled in her mind.
Her response put a deep frown on Liam’s forehead. “It’s so hard to communicate with this woman!” he
lamented secretly.
They took the elevator from the basement parking lot to their apartment.
Their reflections in the mirror-like walls inside the elevator reminded them just how incompatible they
were with each other.
Liam was dressed smartly in a suit that accented his tall and fit body. He was good-looking with a
perfectly symmetrical face, and he had a cool and dashing demeanor.
Meanwhile, Amber looked like a mess. Her worn-out and rumpled jacket looked especially shabby and
cheap under the bright lights in the elevator. Her hair was unkempt, her face looked pale, and her lips
were slightly bluish. Because of all that, her beauty was obscured.
Amber kept her eyes downcast to avoid looking at their reflection. She needed no reminder to know
that Liam was way out of her league.
Due to the warmth inside the elevator, the pain she had been feeling in her lower abdomen since she
was waiting for Liam outside suddenly intensified.
Amber was puzzled, considering that she was only supposed to have her period three days later. Still,
the throbbing pain felt so familiar to her that she was sure it was period pain.
When they reached the apartment, the pain got so overwhelming that she could barely stand upright.
Her fringe was soaked with sweat on her forehead. Colors drained from her face and her lips.
“Are you alright?” Liam, who noticed she was limping, quickly extended his hands to hold her still.
Amber could barely speak due to the acute pain. Still, she mustered all her remaining strength to shake
her head at Liam. “I’m alright. I just need to lie down on the bed and rest.”
She was in so much pain that she started tearing up. The thin film of tears made her eyes glisten and
sparkle.
Liam’s heart fluttered because of the captivating sight. To keep his emotions in control, he quickly
moved his eyes away from hers and helped her into her room.
The moment Amber lay down on the bed, something warm and wet gushed out from her down under in
an instant. As her expectation, she was having her period earlier than her estimation!
Her menstrual flow seemed to be heavier than usual this time mostly because she had been standing
in the bitterly cold wind just now.

them when Liam is here?” she thought. A frisson of anxiety hit her at that thought.
“You really should get back to work now. I’m fine.” Amber was eager to get Liam out of her room.
Her top priority at the moment was to get her hands on a sanitary pad and dealt with her condition in
the bathroom. Otherwise, her bedroom would soon look like a crime scene.
