Chapter 727
Chapter 727
After taking her medicine, Jenna slept relatively peacefully.
Sherilyn returned to the hospital, and Sophia poured her some warm water, handing it over. "You stay with Jenna, I'll go make some food."
"Thanks, Sophia," Sherilyn nodded. "Just prepare something for Jenna. I'll grab something quick for myself."
"Alright, got it."
Once Sophia was gone, Sherilyn stayed by the bed, gently stroking Jenna's sweaty forehead.
She pulled out Jenna's favorite little towel from her bag and tenderly wiped her daughter's face.
The sunlight streaming through the window was a bit too bright, making Jenna frown in her sleep.
Quickly, Sherilyn got up to draw the curtains. As she turned around, the door opened, and Gilbert walked in.
"Sherilyn."
Her gaze dropped to Gilbert's bandaged and sling-supported arm, and she couldn't help but smirk.
"Playing the hero and got yourself hurt?"
Gilbert grimaced. "Just a dislocated shoulder."
"Just?" Sherilyn raised an eyebrow, her smile deepening yet turning colder. "Seems like you're quite the martyr."
"Sherilyn..." Gilbert frowned, at a loss for words.
It seemed no matter what he said, Sherilyn would take it the wrong way.
"I find it quite pitiful too."
Ignoring him, Sherilyn continued, "Why didn't you both just ride off into the sunset together?"
"Sherilyn!" Gilbert snapped, anger in his voice.
He glanced at Jenna, sleeping on the bed, and forced his voice to soften, despite his frustration. "Even if you don't like Caroline, you shouldn't have provoked her in that situation."
"Oh?"
Sherilyn shrugged indifferently, her dark eyes sparkling. "What, you came here to accuse me? Planning on calling the cops?"
Gilbert felt a pang in his chest. "That's not what I meant..."
"Then shut it."
Sherilyn turned away from him, sitting by the bed with an annoyed expression. "Jenna needs rest. Keep it down, don't disturb her."
""
Gilbert opened his mouth to speak but ended up swallowing his words.
On the bed, Jenna mumbled in her sleep, sounding uncomfortable.
"Jenna?" Sherilyn checked on her. When Jenna didn't wake, she prepared to lift her.
Jenna always slept better when held, especially when sick; otherwise, she tended to get restless.
"Let me."
As Sherilyn stood up, Gilbert stepped forward.
"You?" Sherilyn eyed him skeptically. "You're down to one good arm."
"How heavy can Jenna be?"

Slowly, Jenna calmed down.
In the afternoon, Sophia returned.
Jenna was awake, cradled in Gilbert's arms, looking much better.
"I'll take her," Sophia said, reaching out.

"Sure."
Gilbert nodded, handing Jenna to Sophia. He patted Jenna's head. "Eat well, and mommy and I will be back soon." "Okay..."
Jenna's voice was soft, her little arm waving. "Bye, mommy, bye, mister."
Despite being sick, her cheekiness shone through. "Mister, remember to buy mommy something tasty."
Gilbert chuckled, nodding. "Of course, I'll remember."

Since Gilbert was dealing with his injured arm, it was actually Sherilyn who finished her meal first.
