Celestial Queen: Revenge Is Sweet When You’re A Zillionaire Heiress

Chapter 1788

Chapter 1788:

Whenever Harlee was in the room, Lonnie would drop by briefly to check on Rhys before quietly leaving. But when others were watching over Rhys, Lonnie would ask everyone to step out so he could speak to the unconscious man privately, hoping his words might somehow reach him and bring him back.

“You brat, wake up, do you hear me? Harlee has been tormented by sleepless nights, worrying about you. If you don’t wake up soon, I’ll have to step in and separate you two! And I’ll hold you accountable for everything. I might never forgive you, understand?” Lonnie’s voice grew louder as he vented his frustration.

Harlee arrived earlier than expected that day and overheard her father’s stern words. She smiled, choosing to pretend she hadn’t heard anything, and pushed open the door to the hospital room.

“Dad, did you just get here?” she asked.

Caught off guard, Lonnie quickly stood up and cleared his throat. “Yeah, I just happened to be here for a follow-up appointment,” he replied, then swiftly changed the subject. “What did Serena say? Are his vital signs any better?”

“Yes, they’re slightly improved. Serena mentioned he might wake up in a few days. Dad, you don’t need to worry.” A smile briefly crossed Harlee’s face—the first genuine sign of relief she had felt in what seemed like ages.

Relieved, Lonnie feigned a gruff demeanor. “Good. He’s made you lose weight from worry. I’m going to have a word with him when he wakes up!”

He made his way to the door, pausing to add, “Call us when he wakes up. Your mother and your brothers are all worried.”

“Okay, Dad.” Harlee’s state of mind had become increasingly stable. She could even joke with Robbie and the others from time to time—a far cry from the distraught figure she had been just a month ago.

After Lonnie left, Serena arrived with Felix.

When Felix had first been brought to see Rhys, he hadn’t cried. Instead, he joyfully called out, “Daddy!” Since then, Harlee made sure Felix spent at least half an hour with Rhys every day.

Today, when Serena brought him in, Felix was still asleep.

Harlee gently placed him next to Rhys, allowing father and son to rest side by side.

About half an hour later, Felix woke up groggy and disoriented by the unfamiliar surroundings. He began to cry.

“Felix, Mommy’s here.” Hearing her son’s cries, Harlee quickly set aside what she was doing and rushed over to comfort him. “It’s okay, we’re here with Daddy now. Don’t cry.”

As soon as Felix heard the word “Daddy,” he calmed down, his sobs fading. Seeing this, Harlee couldn’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy.

“You like your daddy that much?”

Though the tubes had been removed from Rhys, he was still connected to an IV drip, limiting how much Felix could interact with him. Nonetheless, Harlee carefully placed Felix on Rhys’ lap.

“Felix, shall we play horsey ride on Daddy today?”

Felix, now old enough to understand most of what adults said, though not yet able to speak much himself, recognized the game from the times his uncles played it with him at home. Excited, he began to bounce on Rhys.

Harlee hadn’t anticipated Felix’s enthusiastic movements and quickly scooped him up to prevent any disturbance. Just then, she thought she heard a faint sound from Rhys. She looked sharply at him.
