Grant spoke up, "I called you back because I need your help."

Maddie rolled her eyes, clearly unimpressed. "Oh, so you want me to fake my death for her again?"

Slumping back into the couch with a sigh, she added, "You capitalists sure know how to squeeze every drop out of us, don't you?"

Grant brushed off her sarcasm. "Your disguise skills should be enough to fool Connor, right?"

"With my expertise, that's a piece of cake. But make sure he doesn't hang around the 'corpse' for too long. My fake death pill only lasts an hour. Once it wears off, you're on your own."

Maddie suddenly laughed. "If I get caught, maybe I'll just stick around as Chloe?"

Grant didn't outright dismiss her idea.

"Think your disguise can fool him forever?"

"Not a chance."

Given Connor's sharp instincts and his connection with his wife, Maddie figured she'd be unmasked in no time.

Grant took a leisurely sip of his tea. "So just stick to playing dead. No wild ideas."

Maddie pouted in response.

Meanwhile, across town...

Kash was driving, with Chloe and Connor in the backseat. Connor didn't look happy.

It wasn't her first time going for acupuncture.

Connor showed her a text on his phone, supposedly sent by her an hour ago.

As she tried to piece it together, a sharp pain hit her head, like trying to unlock a

black box only to be bitten by something lurking inside.

Sweat dotted Chloe's forehead. "I can't remember. I really can't."

Seeing her distress, Connor wrapped her in his arms. "Don't push it. Let it go."

Connor had a gut feeling something was off with Grant, but he had no solid proof. It was just a nagging suspicion. He couldn't accuse Grant based on intuition alone, especially since Grant was doing everything he could to help Chloe recover.

Later that evening, Chloe got a call from Isaac. He said he found a nano-listening device that could be

fit into a watch and asked if she still wanted it.

Confused, Chloe pressed for details. Isaac reminded her she'd once hidden a tracker in a watch and had already sent her the tracking link.

Chloe searched her phone but couldn't find any link.

After checking on his end, Isaac suddenly said, "The tracker's been removed. Chloe, I think you've been discovered."

He sounded worried. "Who were you tracking? If they've figured it out, you might be in danger."
