Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life

Chapter 1587

Yvenne's words brought the whole table to a standstill. Even Nash, who was usually the most self-assured, held back from keeping the conversation going, casting a puzzled glance at Yvenne.

After a moment of silence, Jackson placed the peeled shrimp into Fiona's bowl, slowly took off his gloves, and finally looked up at Yvenne. His eyes were flat, showing a clear indifference.

"First off, we're not on first-name terms. Just like everyone else, you should call me Mr. Carter. Second, Fiona is an exception for me. Lastly, if you know you're not as sharp as Fiona, maybe take a page from her book."

With that, he said coldly, "Let's eat."

Fiona, who had been enjoying her shrimp, felt her heart do a little dance at Jackson's words, "Fiona is an exception for me."

With half a shrimp still in her mouth, she looked up at Jackson, her eyes forming crescent moons, making her look utterly charming.

"But, that's not what I meant, Mr. Carter... I..." Yvenne tried to clarify.

Jackson didn't even bother with a glance in her direction.

Under the table, Yvenne clenched her fists and bit her lower lip, looking like a girl who had been wronged.

In truth, no one was picking on her.

"Just stop!" Tyler snapped, unable to hold back.

He was at his wit's end. He had brought Yvenne here to give her a glimpse of the world, not to have her bad-mouth Fiona.noveldrama

He was protective of Fiona and wouldn't stand for her being the subject of gossip. "Brother Jules..."

Tyler didn't even spare her a cold look, his gaze filled with a sense of unfamiliarity. Jackson pulled out a fancy gift bag and placed it beside Fiona. The bag itself screamed luxury, hinting at the pricey contents inside.

Yvenne couldn't help but sneak a few glances, her curiosity getting the better of her. She wondered what was inside that deserved such a lavish package. It had to be something really special.

But why did such a nice gift go to Fiona?

Why did Fiona always get the best of everything? Yvenne couldn't wrap her head around why Fiona was so adored.

"This is the dress for tomorrow night's event. Give it a try later and see if it fits," Jackson said.

Fiona didn't need to guess to know it was a dress. She was not a fan of dresses. Such a bother!

She wasn't keen on these types of events, and if Jackson hadn't invited her, she wouldn't have even considered going.

"Can't I just wear my own clothes to a party?" Fiona mumbled under her breath.

She didn't expect Jackson to catch that, but he did. He chuckled softly and tapped her nose lightly.

"Of course, my Fiona can wear whatever she likes."

Right after saying it, Jackson frowned, feeling like his words didn't quite come out right.

But the words were said and couldn't be unsaid.

"What does the evening gown look like? I've only seen them on TV. Can I take a peek?" Yvenne eagerly leaned in, looking at Fiona with hopeful eyes. "Fiona, can I have a look? Just for a second, please?"

She tried to sway Fiona with her pleading tone, but unfortunately, Fiona didn't give her any response.
