Chapter 971
Avery clutched the woman he'd sacrificed everything to possess, as if she were his most treasured jewel, holding her so tightly in his sweat-drenched grip against her back, pressing her into his chest as if wishing to meld her into his very soul.
"Avery... you monster... let me go..." Evadne's eyes brimmed with crimson tears, her voice quivering with emotion.
Her anger, though fierce, was tinged with a captivating vulnerability, making her delicate, beautiful face even more irresistible to a man's desires.
"Evadne, do you have any idea how much... this moment... makes me want you even more?" Avery's body trembled as he fought to restrain himself, a bead of sweat trickling down his forehead.
His breath was hot and heavy in her ear, laden with desire.
"Damn you..." Evadne felt powerless in his embrace, her tears of rage spilling over.
Once a lady of high standing, proud and unbending, she was now at the mercy of the man she loathed, feeling utterly helpless and despairing.
"Don't be scared, the drug I injected you with is just a strong sedative. You'll recover slowly once it wears off, it won't harm you physically."
Avery's fingers threaded through her cascading dark hair, caressing it lovingly, "But, you need to behave."
"Avery... so you've won, you beast."
Evadne's body was rigid with defiance, her eyes blazing with anger. Even though she couldn't move, her every inch radiated a profound rejection of him. "Do you think... you've won?
The Chambers Group is finished, the new drug experiment is a bust, Harvey, Wayne... all your so-called loyalists have met their end or turned on you... you're at a dead end!"
Avery listened quietly, a smile still playing at the corners of his mouth.
"Now... kidnapping me is just your desperate attempt to use me as a bargaining chip, to carve out a last escape for yourself."
Evadne's eyes flared with anger, yet she laughed bitterly, "Give up that hope. Even in death... I won't be your captive!"
"Evadne, you're misunderstanding me. I never wanted to hurt you, I just wanted... to be with you."
Avery's gaze on her was sticky, greedy, intense, as if wishing to fuse her into himself, "And I know you well. Since childhood, you've been as stubborn as a wild pony, always more determined to break free the more you're held back.
So, what's really on your mind right now isn't finding a way to die, but how to escape from the island I've prepared for you, or even, to kill me.
Besides, your family is waiting for you to come home, not to mention Thaddeus. Could you bear to leave them behind? If you died, think of how heartbroken they would be."
The thought of Emeric, her brothers, Suri, and Thaddeus brought tears to Evadne's eyes, her chest heaving with emotion.
Her heart felt like a lone boat adrift in a tumultuous sea, at risk of being swallowed by the towering waves at any moment.
"Evadne, this ROSE Island, it's my wedding gift to you."
Evadne's entire body tensed, her teeth gritted, "Mad dog!"noveldrama
Avery's voice was raspy with desire as his cold lips brushed over her forehead, her nose, her cute little earlobes, "I've planted all your favorite ROSES here, white ones, red ones... I've even cultivated a black ROSE for you. In a moment, I'll carry you over to see them, okay?"
Evadne used the last of her strength to twist her neck, resisting his increasingly erratic kisses.
His kiss, like the cold, sticky flicker of a snake's tongue over her skin, brought no sense of love or desire, only revulsion and horror.
What do you think?
