Living With My Lady Boss

Chapter 1011

Wilbur looked at the girl, before looking back at Milo. "Who's this?"

"This is Wengie Cooper. She's the department technician, and also my daughter," said Milo at once.

Wilbur smiled. "Like father like daughter. But like I said, this belongs to the Department of Paranormal Research and Defense now."

"Sir, this is an artifact that belongs to Emerald Province. You don't have the right to it," said Wengie.

Wilbur glanced at Wengie impatiently.

Wengie's chest lurched under his gaze, but she held his stare with all her courage and refused to back down.

Wilbur could not help but shake his head. What were these people thinking, trying to take something he wanted away from him?

Just then, ten Special Forces cars pulled up with their wailing sirens, stopping at the canyon entrance.

Almost a hundred Special Forces agents emerged, storming in, and surrounding the area.

An old, lanky elder in his fifties wearing a suit led the team, with two men following behind him.

"Secretary Howie!" Milo hurried over at once to greet the man, shaking his hand before launching into a hurried explanation.

The elder, Secretary Howie, nodded after listening to everything and made his way over to Wilbur.

"Which one of you is Mister Wilbur Penn of the Department of Paranormal Research and Defense?"

"That's me," said Wilbur.

"Tony Howie, I'm in charge of Emerald Province. It's a pleasure to meet you," Tony stuck out a hand warmly.

Wilbur shook hands with Tony, nodding in acknowledgment.

Just then, Wengie said, "Secretary Howie, the skeleton they're trying to take with them is important for our research. Please tell them to hand it over right now."

Tony frowned at her, before gesturing for Milo to come over.

Milo hurried to do as told.

It was only then that Tony said, "You just told me what happened here, and you know how dangerous the situation was. It's all thanks to Mister Penn that you're even alive now."

"We know, Secretary Howie, and we're very grateful for that. However, they are separate issues. The skeleton is an artifact that belongs to us, and he has to give it back." Wengie's temper was clearly even worse than her father's.

Milo frowned as well. "Yes, an ancient tomb thousands of years old has so much research value, and we were the ones who found it, too. They shouldn't be allowed to just take the skeleton away."

Tony looked at father and daughter. "Let me break it down for you, then. The Department of Paranormal Research and Defense is an official national department with the right to demand any department around the country to cooperate with them to any extent, and that includes us. Whatever they want, we must provide. That goes beyond just an artifact. We'd have to let them take over the government if they wanted to. Do you understand now?"noveldrama

Milo and Wengie were shocked to their core at those words.

They knew that the Department of Paranormal Research and Defense was powerful, but not to such an extent.

From what Tony was saying, it seemed like the members of this department could do just about anything they wanted. That was terrifying, wasn't it?

Tony glanced at the looks of shock on their faces. "Do what Mister Penn wants, or you're both fired."

Milo and Wengie lowered their heads silently.

As if they would dare to say anything more in the face of such power.

Wilbur smiled at them. He then took two steps forward, picking up a broken piece of the thunder cleaver.

The thunder cleaver had shattered to hundreds of pieces, its structure completely destroyed from Rinchen's powerful attack to worthless bits of scrap metal.

There was no fixing it now.

Wilbur lost his thunder cleaver.

In comparison to the thunder cleaver, however, what Wilbur had gained was still pretty remarkable.

Even contributing the crystal sternum alone would get him an incredible amount of grace points in exchange, and thus the loss of the thunder cleaver did not sting too much.

Just then, Wilbur noticed a plant growing by his feet.
