Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 950

Even though Selena had a hunch about the situation when she saw the locket, Everett's explanation still left her feeling both absurd and wronged. Sure, losing crucial memories because of surgery wasn't his fault, and she couldn't hold it against him. And when he woke up, his determination to find her was understandable, so she couldn't blame him for that either. Later, when schemers manipulated him, trying to settle a debt of gratitude, she still couldn't fault him.

But here's the kicker: everything that happened was originally hers, yet due to misunderstandings and mistaken identities, she ended up carrying all the pain. Logically, she knew she couldn't blame him, but emotionally? A few words of explanation and remorse weren't enough to wipe away all the hurt she'd endured.

Selena shoved Everett away, her voice thick with emotion. "Stay away from me, Everett. In this mess, you're even more at fault, and I can't forgive you right now."

Taking a deep breath, she added, "I'm going to pay my respects to Grandpa, and once I'm done, I'm leaving."

Everett's heart ached for her, but seeing her resistance, he didn't dare come closer. He just nodded gently. "Alright... I'll see you off after you're done."

Selena wiped her tears away and walked out without looking back.

Inside the family chapel, Selena knelt

solemnly before Josh's plaque, bowing three times. The two little ones beside her mimicked her actions. Looking at Josh's plaque, she forced a smile. "Grandpa, it's hard to believe how much Mateo and Haley have grown. The great-grandchildren you wished for are here. I hope you're watching over us and feeling happy."

Silently, she added in her heart about the unborn baby she was carrying. Josh had always loved kids and talked about them ever since she and Everett got married, but sadly, he passed away before meeting any of them. At least now she hadn't let him down.

Rising to her feet, Selena turned to Everett with a cold edge. "No need for you to see us off. I've called a driver. Mateo will stay with me for a few more days. I'll send him to you when school starts."

Before Everett could say anything, she took the kids by the hand and walked out. Everett followed them silently to the door, watching as they got into the car. Even as it drove away, he stood there for ages, unmoving.noveldrama

Turns out, you really shouldn't do wrong... The way he wronged Selena was hitting him now, one blow after another, like boomerangs straight to the heart. All

he could do was try harder, be more sincere, and seek her forgiveness.

On Valentine's Day, Ava baked a bunch of pies and settled in to watch the Valentine's special with Selena and the kids. These days, Everett was calling or texting Selena daily, but she never replied. When he ran out of options, he'd drive over but wouldn't come in, just waited outside.

At that moment, he was standing in the yard, barely moving. Ava, who was soft-hearted despite her tough facade, had glanced his way several times. She finally gave in and said, "Ma'am, even though the South isn't as cold as the North, the night winds can still be brutal. If Mr. Everett keeps standing out there, he's gonna catch a cold."
