Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 951

Selena didn't even bat an eye as she fed Haley a piece of clementine, her voice chilly and distant, "No one told him to stand out there all night. He's not a toddler; if he's cold, he can just head home."

Ava shook her head with a sigh.

Things seemed fine when they visited the cemetery, but once they got back, it was back to the usual drama. Those two really know how to keep things interesting. But considering all that Selena had been through, maybe Everett had it coming.

Ava decided to keep quiet, focusing on feeding the baby instead.

As the night wore on, Selena emerged from the bathroom, her hair still a bit damp. She sat at her vanity, drying her hair and going through her skincare routine. Just as she was about to climb into bed, something crossed her mind. She walked over to the window and glanced down.

The figure in the garden hadn't budged.

Selena pursed her lips, picked up her phone, and dialed Everett's number.

Outside, Everett's eyes lit up when he saw her name on his screen. He looked up

at the second floor, meeting her gaze through the window.

He pressed the phone to his ear, a smile creeping across his lips. "Selena, still awake?"

Her tone was icy, "When are you leaving?"

Everett didn't take offense, instead choosing to tease, "Worried about me, are you?"

Selena, tired of correcting him, replied, "I just don't want you passing out from the cold in my yard and causing me grief. It's almost Christmas, and that's some bad mojo."

Everett: "..."

After a pause, Everett spoke again, "Selena, let it out. Only then can we move on and maybe find our way back to each other."

Selena wasn't in the mood for a chat, "Are you leaving or not?"

"Alright, alright, if you want me to go, I'll go. I always listen to my wife."

Just as Selena was about to hang up, Everett quickly added, "You've got a check- up coming up. Can I come with you?"

He'd missed too many moments during her previous pregnancies. Now, he didn't want to miss anything else, even if this child wasn't his. In his heart, he cherished the Selena of today, no matter what.

But as soon as he finished, Selena hung up without a word.noveldrama

The beeping tone echoed in his ear, and Everett let his hand drop, a sigh escaping with a resigned smile.

Everett. You had this coming. Just deal with it.

...

A week later, it was time for Selena's check-up.

Just as they were about to leave, Ava suddenly clutched her stomach, groaning, "Ma'am, my stomach's acting up. Must've been something from last night. I... I don't think I can

come with you..."

Selena saw right through her act, but before she could say anything, Ava had already dashed off to the bathroom.

Watching her flee, Selena wasn't sure whether to laugh or be annoyed.

She turned and headed outside, and sure enough, there was Everett's car in the driveway. He stood by it in a long black coat, looking more dashing than ever. fo

With a slight smile, he opened the passenger door, "Selena, hop in. I'll take you to your appointment."

Selena stood her ground.

You've got some nerve!

Everett held her gaze for a few seconds and then added, more humbly, "Think of

me as your driver. I promise I won't bug you, okay?"

Selena stayed put for almost half a minute, and just as Everett started to feel uneasy, she finally moved, taking one step at a time towards him.
