Michael was taken aback, and Veda turned to look as well. Seeing it was Emily, Veda's face darkened, and she let out a cold snort.

Despite calling her "sister-in-law," Veda clearly had issues with Emily.

She didn't even bother to look Emily in the eye.

Veda snorted again, finally looking at Emily with a face as dark as a storm cloud.

Daniel arrived just in time to see Veda causing trouble for Michael again, just as he had expected.

"Because she's your sister-in-law. Even though we're divorced, she's still your sister-in- law. The child she's carrying is mine. The 'illegitimate child' you mentioned is your own nephew!"

Hearing this, Veda looked at Emily in disbelief.

Emily was clearly tired of the Smith family's drama. She didn't want to be involved and was sick of Veda's constant attacks.

At some point, all she wanted was to leave.

"Michael, you two are divorced?"

"Yes, we're divorced." Hearing Veda ask again, Emily finally decided it was time to clear things up. "Veda, Michael and I ended our marriage a month ago. So whoever I'm with now has nothing to do with Michael or the Smith family.

"And yes, the child I'm carrying is Michael's. If you don't believe me, we can do a paternity test after the baby is born. But don't worry, even though I'm carrying Michael's child, I have no intention of fighting for anything. Whether I get shares of Smith Corporation or not, I won't ask for them."

Veda's face showed even more shock and disbelief as Emily explained.

Emily quickly noticed Veda's reaction and continued. "I'll pretend I didn't hear what you just said. After all, our divorce wasn't made public, and you weren't home recently, so it's understandable that you'd be upset.

"But you have a position in Smith Corporation now. It's not appropriate to make a scene in public, and you shouldn't argue with Michael. If there's something to discuss, do it at home."

Emily smiled. "These are just suggestions. You can take them or leave them. Alright, with you here to keep Michael company, I can leave now."

Seeing Emily about to leave, Michael wanted to call her back, but Veda's glare stopped him. He didn't want to deal with Veda, but she quickly pushed Emily out of the room.

Veda didn't say much to Emily, and she had no intention of apologizing. She just said a brief goodbye and was about to turn back to the room when she saw Daniel again. Daniel had come to stop Veda from making a scene.

With that, Veda turned and went back into the room, slamming the door behind her. Inside, the arguing started again. Daniel could hear Michael trying to come out but being stopped by Veda.

These siblings were always like this, constantly arguing.

In the Smith family, only Mason had a normal temper.

Daniel looked at the tired Emily and suddenly understood something. He spoke softly

to her, "Don't mind her. Veda's always like that with everyone."

Emily knew that. She had escaped from the Smith family and knew everyone's temper well.

"She's pitiful enough. I have nothing more to explain." With that, Emily held her belly, took a deep breath, and spoke to herself. "I'm just glad I made the right decision to leave them early with my child."
