This was where Emily and Archibald often came to eat, but as she sat there, her mind was filled with thoughts of Michael, and she couldn't shake it off.

Seeing that Veda didn't mention Emily, Daniel guessed she didn't know about Michael rushing into the fire to save Emily. He didn't mention it either, just reminding Veda to keep her voice down and not disturb other patients.

And so, they met briefly and parted quickly.

Daniel wondered if he should find Veda to explain. But after thinking it over, he decided there was nothing to explain. Their relationship was so shallow that explanations seemed pointless.

"Michael! I need an explanation!"

Just as Daniel predicted, when Veda saw the burns on Michael's arm, she was heartbroken and shouted.

Michael felt a moment of suffocation. He quickly asked Veda to sit down. "There's nothing to be alarmed about. It's just a minor burn. It'll heal in a few days."

"Heal in a few days? If it's just a minor burn, why are you staying in the hospital? And why did you get burned? I had no idea. Does Grandpa know?"
