Chapter 2469
Chapter 2469
Grant curled his lips into a silent, icy smirk.
Nigel had played his hand, drawing Bella into the game. His intent was unmistakable-to spread out power in order to maintain control. He feared that one day a single force would rise unchecked, wielding absolute dominance over the Salvador Corporation.
Others might accept this, but Gregory could not.noveldrama
Fury surged through him, his face darkening with rage. "Dad! Have you lost your mind? Do you even know who she is? She's the president of KS Group, our direct competitor! The KS Group is also bidding for the A5 project! No matter how much you favor this woman, there has to be a limit!"
His voice sharpened, each word like a blade. "By elevating her to a position of power, you're not just showing favoritism, you're inviting the tiger into our home!"
A low chuckle cut through the charged air.
"Hah." Nigel's lips curled in amusement, but his gaze was anything but warm. "Favoritism? Inviting a tiger into my home?"
The old man's voice was deep with meaning. "Perhaps the real question is... Who is my family, and who is the tiger?"
The words sent an undeniable chill through the room.
As he spoke, his sharp gaze swept past Grant's unreadable expression, lingering just long enough to leave a sense of unease in its wake.
A moment of silence later, a board member aligned with Gregory stepped forward.
"Old Master Nigel, while you have publicly recognized Ms. Thompson as your god- granddaughter, the fact remains that you have no blood relation with her. Even among true relatives, business must be handled with clear distinctions. After all, this concerns the interests of every shareholder and board member."
His voice carried a weight of reason, but the underlying opposition was unmistakable. "With all due respect, the KS Group behind Ms. Thompson is undoubtedly our strongest competitor in the A5 project bid. Forgive my bluntness, but no matter how you look at it, allowing Ms. Thompson into the board isn't a wise decision."
A ripple of murmurs spread through the room.
The tension had shifted. Opposition was growing, but Bella merely smiled, unfazed.
Nigel furrowed his brows, his expression heavy with contemplation. "Your concerns are not without reason."
His voice carried the weight of authority, yet Bella remained unshaken. Her red lips curled into a soft, knowing smile. She met the board's scrutinizing gazes with effortless composure, unhurried and poised.
She announced, "To demonstrate my sincerity, I hereby declare, as the CEO of KS Group, that we are officially withdrawing from the A5 project bid."
The room erupted.
Gasps filled the air as heads turned toward her in stunned disbelief.
What a sacrifice!
She was truly willing to go this far.
"Bella..." Justin's fingers curled against the table, his grip tightening. A storm surged in his chest.
He knew exactly why she was doing this.
She was willing to forsake her own company's interests-walk away from a high-stakes bid -just to secure her place here.
For him.
But was it worth it? Was he worth it?
Grant's gaze darkened further, his sharp eyes shifting toward Gregory.
Gregory's expression flickered. His mind raced, weighing the pros and cons, calculating whether this was a battle worth fighting.
After a long pause, Gregory exhaled and slowly lowered himself into his seat, signifying a retreat, a concession, and a compromise.
Grant withdrew his gaze, his expression unreadable, yet his eyes betrayed a trace of uncertainty.
"Very well." Nigel's voice resonated through the room, steady and commanding. "Now, let me ask-does anyone else object to Ms. Thompson joining the board?"
Only silence answered his question. A silence so profound that the faintest breath could be heard.
Bella's gaze swept over the room before she let out a light, effortless laugh.
"Thank you for your support, everyone," she said smoothly. "I am still young and in the process of familiarizing myself with Salvador Corporation's operations. I hope you will all guide me in the future."
Her tone was poised-neither servile nor arrogant.
The board members, already impressed by her composure, exchanged glances. Whatever doubts they harbored before, they could no longer deny this woman was a force to be reckoned with.
With the storm momentarily settled, the meeting returned to its original agenda.
The matter of Grant's presidency.
Once again, the air grew heavy, the undercurrents of power shifting beneath the surface.
Grant lowered his gaze, his left hand resting on the table. His pale, slender fingers tapped rhythmically against the polished wood.
He understood. His grandfather had brought Bella in for one reason alone-to tip the balance in the final vote and bring him down.
Bella was one more vote against him and one more obstacle in his path.
His thoughts trailed off as his sharp, dark eyes settled on Nigel. A chilling glint flickered
beneath his lashes, unreadable, calculating.
Gregory declared, his voice thick with determination, "Now, let's proceed with the vote. Those who do not support Grant's continuation as president-raise your hand."
Seconds passed, but no one moved.
Not a single hand was raised.
Even Justin, Bella, and Nigel himself remained still.
What do you think?
