Chapter 525
Lemira jumped, startled, and turned to see Lucian standing outside the car window. She felt a bit awkward. What was he doing here? Orion's expression darkened, clearly annoyed at being interrupted. The Langstons were getting on his nerves more each day. Lucian stood in front of the car window, visibly upset. "Get out of the car, both of you!" Lemira wiped the corner of her mouth, feeling a bit tense, but seeing Lucian's expression calmed her down quickly. She rolled down the window and looked at Lucian with a cool demeanor. "What do you want?" Her tone was so indifferent, it was as if the person outside was a stranger.
Lucian was frustrated and shot a glance at Orion in the back seat. "Lemmy, why are you still hanging out with him?" Lemira countered, "And why shouldn't I be?" "He's not right for you. This guy's background is sketchy, his job is average, and he's obviously after your family's status." Lucian had always been suspicious of Orion. He was just a small-town school nurse before, and now he'd followed Lemira all the way to Orvin. It seemed like he was just clinging to her.
Lemira laughed dryly. "Whatever he is, I like him." "Lemmy, you're still young. We might have been harsh before, and that's why you let him in. But trust me, he's not a good guy."
"Enough. Whether he's good or not is none of your business," Lemira snapped. Lucian turned his warning to Orion. "I'm telling you, don't you dare lay a finger on Lemmy, or the Langston family will make sure you regret it."
Orion's voice was icy. "And what good has the Langston family ever done? Last night, she was almost in trouble. Is that what you call looking out for her? If that's your idea of care, no one in their right mind would want it."
Lucian was left speechless, his grip tightening on the car door. "What happened last night was an accident."
"Funny how the Langston family seems to have so many 'accidents.' Maybe one day the tables will turn. With me, Lemira will never face such 'accidents.""
With that, Orion started the car and drove off, leaving Lucian behind, calling out, "Lemmy, get out! I need to talk to you!"
But Lemira just rolled up the window, ignoring him completely. The car was suddenly much quieter. Lemira turned to Orion, "You're still as sharp-tongued as ever." "Normally, I don't lose my cool, but with them, I just can't help it." Lemira chuckled. Her phone rang, and without even looking, she knew who it was. She ignored the call.
After driving in silence for a bit, Orion asked, "Where to?"
"To TG Group. They've found some leads."
Orion thought for a moment. "Let's head to the gym instead. The PR firm is too crowded and nosy." He was concerned about keeping his identity under wraps. Going to TG Group would risk exposure.
After a moment's hesitation, Lemira agreed. "Alright."noveldrama
Investigating Evelina's father was sensitive. If the wrong people got wind of it, they'd go underground, making it hard to catch them. Relieved, Orion nodded as Lemira messaged the TG Group team to meet them at the gym. Once there, they headed to the boxing area. Lemira took out her red gloves. "I love these. Best gift ever." As Orion approached, her gaze instinctively fell on his lips, remembering the interrupted kiss from earlier.
He leaned in close, bending down to her level. "I think I deserve a gift too."
"What do you want-" Her words were cut off as Orion pulled her into a kiss, wrapping his arms around her waist tenderly. Lemira looped her arms around his neck, responding with delight. Orion held her tight, his hands warm against her back as he kissed her senseless, leaving her breathless and trembling. Eventually, he pulled back, his voice husky. "They should be here by now." Those words brought Lemira back to reality. She had almost forgotten they were here to meet the PR team, not just to get lost in each other.
What do you think?
