When They Beg, I Rise!

Chapter 526

She blushed and tried to wriggle out of his embrace, but he held her tight. His chin rested gently on her shoulder. "Just a little longer, okay?" he murmured.

"But everyone's already here. It's not exactly the best look," Lemira mumbled, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Orion still didn't release her. "They've been here for a while. A few more minutes won't hurt," he reassured her.

Lemira stayed put, her cheeks flushed, listening to the steady, strong rhythm of his heartbeat. The memory of their recent kiss had left her mind blank, unable to think of anything else. Eventually, Orion loosened his grip.

Lemira, still red-faced, said, "I-I'll go check outside."

Her retreat was almost like a hasty escape, and Orion chuckled softly as he watched her leave.

Stepping outside, Lemira took a deep breath and patted her cheeks, trying to regain her composure. It wasn't polite to keep people waiting too long.

Sure enough, she saw the PR team from TG Group jogging on the treadmills.

Debby spotted Lemira and came over. "I saw you two were busy, so we didn't want to interrupt. And we figured a little exercise wouldn't hurt," she said with a smile.

Lemira felt a bit guilty. "Sorry for keeping you waiting."

"No worries," Debby replied. "Arranging meetings at the gym is pretty smart- sneak in some exercise during work hours."

Debby's words helped put Lemira at ease. Honestly, who would dare interrupt when the heir to the Everhart fortune is having a moment with his girlfriend? Besides, with Orion involved, was there anything that couldn't be sorted out? Lemira led the PR team to the boxing area, where she saw Orion sitting with a bottle of sparkling water in hand.

He spoke up. "Let's hear it."

Debby reported, "Ms. Langston, we hacked into the Langston family's security system overnight. We did find someone sneaking into the mansion late at night. However, they seemed to know the system well, and we only caught a glimpse of their back."

"If they knew the security layout, Evelina must have tipped them off."

"That's our guess too. We're going through nearby cameras and have found a few suspicious vehicles. It's going to take some time to narrow it down."

Lemira knew it wouldn't be easy.

The fact that Evelina's father had resorted to such drastic measures meant her initial suspicions were correct.

Corner Evelina, and those lurking in the shadows would eventually show themselves.

Lemira nodded. "Having leads is a good start. It means we're on the right track."

Orion ruffled her hair. "There are no eternal secrets in this world. It's just a matter of time before we uncover the truth. You've done well."

"It's just unfortunate that Zack was killed and took the blame, so we still can't pin anything on Evelina."

Lemira had hoped to finally bring Evelina to justice.

She sounded slightly disappointed. "I suspect this isn't the first time Evelina's father has done something like this. Remember Evelina's partner-in-crime during the SATS? The one who supposedly hung himself? I suspect Evelina's father was behind that too."

Evelina's father could casually commit murder, so it was likely he played a role in her parents' deaths. This wasn't just an accident!

Orion found it all very suspicious too. That driver was definitely a problem.noveldrama

He spoke up, "Now that we've found some clues, we'll definitely get to the bottom of it. I promise."

Once he uncovered the truth about that car accident, maybe Lemira's resentment towards him would lessen.

Lemira nodded. "Tomorrow, Aurora Trust is hosting a charity sale. The 'two-faced' girl is sure to pull some tricks. This time, we'll catch her embezzling red-handed."

After their workout session, Lemira and Orion grabbed a meal together.

Orion dropped her off at the Langston estate. "Call me if anything comes up. Don't

try to handle things alone. Leave the dirty work to me."

"I know."

Lemira was finding herself more and more fond of him.

After she got out of the car, she waved and walked into the Langston family mansion.

The lights were bright in the hall, and her brothers were all there, with the 'two- faced' girl sitting next to Asher.

Lemira raised an eyebrow. "Everyone's here, huh? Having a meeting?"

Asher was the first to speak. "Lucian said you broke it off with that broke school doctor ages ago. So what's with you and that guy? Lemira, are

you really that desperate for a man?"
